TELEMETRY OPTIONS
Molynx AC telemetry receivers offer both COAXIAL ("C" Type) and TWISTED PAIR ("D" Type) telemetry options. NOTE: The majority of video amplifiers cannot be used with "C" type telemetry. However, Molynx can supply a Video Amplifier that can be used with "C" type telemetry. Always keep telemetry cables as short as possible to prevent/reduce R.F interference.
Recommendation - For ease of use, when connecting coaxial cables to this unit use right-angled (90) BNC plugs. Signal Specification: 11.50MHz carrier modulated @ 9600 baud. Cable Recommendations: Video and Telemetry signals travel down the same cable in different directions at different frequencies. Telemetry will operate with link losses up to 26dB @ 11.50MHz. Most video pictures will be severely impaired with a loss greater than 6dB in the cable. Choose an appropriate coaxial cable to give an acceptable loss (in dB) for the required distance. Refer to data supplied by cable manufacturers for further information and NACOSS (NACP20) guidelines for greater technical detail. Typical distance: 500 metres (longer distances possible using a high specification cable). Note: For fixed cameras it may be necessary to use a Molynx RF rejector unit (VT148) at the camera assembly to prevent the telemetry signal interference with the video picture.
The receiver units can be ordered with a C type (coaxial) or D type (twisted pair) sub-board. These plug-in modular circuit boards can be interchanged on-site. Use plug-in module PLW231 if you require D type control or, use PLW233 for C type telemetry. (Refer to page 4, for installation guidelines).

Cable Recommendations
Notes: ALWAYS CHECK VOLTAGE LABELS BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE UNIT. The recommended mains cable for all units is 0.75mm (24/0.2mm). The mains supply MUST be fused at 5Amps. For 230/240v AC units a minimum conductor size of 0.5mm can be used, provided the supply is fused at 3Amps or less. (It is recommended that this cable be kept to less than 3 metres due to the high current.) When connecting cables for the electrical supply ALWAYS ensure that High (mains) voltage conductors are separated from Low voltage (telemetry, lens, etc.) conductors. Where conduit is not used, do not insert more than one cable per cable gland to ensure weatherproofing. Note: Ensure that Cable Glands are sealed securely to prevent the ingress of moisture into the unit. Recommended Pan/Tilt unit cable 24/0.2mm, (0.75mm) Olflex YY PVC insulated, grey PVC sheathed, 7 core (6 + Earth), 8.1mm nominal, or similar. 16/0.2mm, (0.5mm) minimum conductor size @ 230/240v 3A. (Note: It is recommended that this cable is kept as short as possible due to the high current.) Pan and tilt motor cable minimum conductor size 16/0.2mm. Lens functions: 7/0.2mm with overall screen. Note: Always keep cables as short as possible to prevent/ reduce R.F interference. Electrical installation methods should comply with current national regulations and site regulations. Technicians qualified to the appropriate level should only carry out the installation. An appropriate disconnection device MUST be included in the installation. Prior to commencement of installation, all relevant safety requirements must be adhered to. These will vary with the nature of the site and may involve specialist installation equipment when working in hazardous areas. Cable Glands Fuse Ratings (Insert only one cable per cable gland to ensure weatherproof IP66 rating) Main Assembly :5Amps 2 x 20mm cable glands 2 x 16mm cable glands Power Supply :2A Cable range 8mm to 13mm (diameter) Cable range 7mm to 10.5mm (diameter). INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The Pan/Tilt and Auxiliary functions can be supplied with 24V or, 110-120V or, 230-240V AC @ 50-60Hz. 12V DC is pre-wired to supply all lens functions. Unregulated 12V DC to supply board and all lens functions. 24V or, 110-120V or 230-240V AC, which is, supplied to all mains functions via terminal block. ALWAYS CHECK VOLTAGE LABELS BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE UNIT
Important Note: The boards have two LED indicators: GREEN Valid data indicator, when lit continuously (i.e. no flickering), indicates that valid data is being received from the transmitter unit. If the GREEN LED flickers corrupt data is reaching the receiver. RED Power-on indicator when lit indicates power is being applied to the board. Note ~ If this happens switch OFF the power and check all wiring before re-powering unit. Circuit Description IC1 is the processor and controller. All functions received 2. The AC mains input supply should be applied to the receiver power supply via terminal block 4. This is previa the telemetry input are interpreted and switched onto ports P0 and P2, then through IC2 and IC3 onto wired to supply the receiver via CN2 (terminals 1, 2 connectors CN2 and CN3. IC4 is a simple watchdog that and 3). The AC voltage applied on the L E N terminals resets if the power supply drops below a certain voltage. of CN2 is the voltage that appears as the switched outputs on PR, PL, TU, TD, USR1 and USR2. Notes: Breaking links JP1 and JP2 on the rear of the PCB allocates voltage free relay contacts for terminal 1. The receiver boards are powered from an unregulated USR2. 12v DC power supply (polarity is not important) situated under the chassis (fitted as standard in all 3. The lens functions i.e. ZOOM and FOCUS speed up gradually (12v DC ramped output) when the boxed enclosures and housings). This is pre-wired to transmitter key is held down. This enables precise the receiver board via CN1 and is supplied as a positioning of the lens by the operator. The power ramped output to all lens functions (ZI, ZO, FN and supply has a 12v DC 420mA auxiliary output via a jack FF) on connector CN3. This voltage is then regulated socket to power a camera or other equipment. by RG1 down to 5v DC for the digital supply.
Receiver Layout
1. 2. The polarity of the 12V DC input is NOT important (pre-wired in boxed versions). 24V, 110V or 240V AC applied to terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the main terminal block is supplied to the appropriate function when operated from the transmitter (on boxed version, the AC supply is pre-wired to the main terminal block). Breaking links JP1 and JP2 on the rear of the receiver board results in USR2 becoming a voltage-free contact. FIG.4.a

Nothing operates at all Check there is power to the board on CN2 (L, E, N). If there is no power check that the correct mains has been applied to the chassis terminal block (L, E, N) and that the pre-wired connections are not loose or damaged. Check the chassis fuse (5A @ 250V). If there is power to the board check the receiver test functions (pg8). Check for 12V DC at CN3 when a lens function is activated from the transmitter. Video present - no control Ensure the valid data indicator is lit continuously (GREEN LED). If it does not light up after data wires have been connected; 1. When using D type data reverse the twisted pair. (i.e. swap over the +'ve and -'ve data at the receiver.) 2. When using C type data - Ensure the coaxial cable from the transmitter and the camera have been installed correctly. If reversed you will receive a video picture but no control. Connect Coaxial cable from camera to CAM and from transmitter to LINE.
