Memorial Day Weekend an ideal time to visit Hilton Head Island, with near perfect weather, and lots of planned festivities for the extended holiday weekend! Memorial Day Weekend marks the beginning of summer fun on Hilton Head Island and we welcome you to join us on for warm spring days that bring barbecues, outdoor concerts, picnics in the park, rounds of golf on manicured courses, and days spent at our favorite Hilton Head beaches. Celebrated the last Monday in May each year, Memorial Day commemorates U.S. Soldiers who died in military service and is a special day we pay tribute to their sacrifice and celebrate their lives. This holiday is meant to serve as a memorial to our fallen heroes, and is often celebrated with parades and fireworks for the occasion. During the 20th century, the Memorial Day holiday began to be known as an occasion for a long weekend devoted to shopping, family get-togethers, fireworks and trips to the beach. Even though summer doesnt officially start until a month or so after the Memorial Day weekend, most of us (especially the folks on Hilton Head Island) treat this three-day holiday weekend as the official beginning of summer! Celebrate Memorial Day weekend on Hilton Head Island with family friendly festivities at the Annual HarbourFest celebration and fireworks display and hear the Hilton Head Choral Societys America Sings performance featuring colonial folk songs, patriotic tunes, and a special salute to our Armed Forces.

A visit to Hilton Head Island is the perfect way to spend a long holiday weekend with family, friends or that special someone. With a variety of resorts and hotels available, you can choose from oceanfront, golf oriented or family friendly accommodations for your holiday weekend getaway on the Island. Make plans to spend and enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend on Hilton Head Island and join us for the festivities and celebration.
