You can quickly & easily import data into TIBCO Spotfire from just about any data source. Spotfire provide facilities to import data from excel, SAS and data bases Step 2: Visualize your data. As soon as you load your data , Spotfire will automatically create a brilliant dashboard, complete with filters. It's that easy. Step 3: Customize your dashboards. Change colors. Arrange filters. Adjust sliders. Add more visualization. Even load more data from other sources right on the spot, if needed. Gain instant insight with TIBCO Spotfire. Step 4: Share your insights. Publish your custom dashboard to the TIBCO Spotfire cloud with just a few clicks. Let others see what you've seen. Share selectively, or let the whole world see.

Load your data:


Sources of Data Import: Pasting from clipboard. From simple text files. Microsoft excel Files. SAS Files. Database. Information Link.

Load Data from File, Text, Excel: Click on File> Open. Browse to the file click Open. Look through the preview and make settings as desired for the data set > click OK.

The data type of the columns could be selected as Integer, Real, Currency, date , Time etc. The row type be selected as Data Row, Ignore, Name Row and Type Row.

The data in a particular file could be normalized, could be used for computation of additional columns using relational operators, the column names could be formattedsome of the features of data set manipulations. Multiple data files could be added to the existing files. The relationship between the columns of the files could be defined.

Data Visualisation:

Using Spotfire Visualization: Examples


Visualizations For the data file StoreSales.txt we generate the following visualization: o Goods Per Type Per Gender. o Total Sales Per Age Group Per Gender.

Example 1: Goods Per Type Per Gender:


o o o o o o o o o o o o o Select Pie Chart as the visualization: Insert > New Visualization > Pie Chart. In the dropdown- Color By : Select (Column Names) In the dropdown- Sector Size By: Select Select Columns.. In the selection box now: Select the column Electronics and Add apply the aggregation Sum to it. Select the column Furniture and Add apply the aggregation Sum to it. Select the column Garden and Add apply the aggregation Sum to it. Select the column Groceries and Add apply the aggregation Sum to it. Select the column Toys and Add apply the aggregation Sum to it. Right Click and Select Properties. Select Trellis . Check the radio button Rows and Columns . In Rows dropdown select Gender. Close.

Select Bar Chart as the visualization: Insert > New Visualization > Bar Chart. Right Click and Select Properties. o In Appearance check Stacked Bars Radio Button. o In Category Axis in dropdown Columns: select Age Group. o In Value Axis in dropdown Columns: select total.

In Colors in dropdown Columns: select gender.

1>Select bar chart for visualisation

2>Right click select Properties

3>In Appearance under Layout: check radio button Stacked Bars.

4> In Value Axis in dropdown Columns: select Total.

Output: Total Sales Per Age Group Per Gender

Example 3 : Data Relationships Regression


Steps to be followed : Go to Tools > Data Relationships. Select Linear Regression in the Dropdown Comparison Method. In the Available Y Columns add:Total. In the Available X Columns add: o Age Group o Customer Age o Electronics o Furniture o Garden o Groceries o Number of Purchases o Receipt Average o Toys o Click OK.

Sharing Result:
To export use File > Export. Export Options: o Image o Data o To Microsoft PowerPoint o To PDF o To HTML

Apart from options given above one has also option to put the result on web with different access rights for viewing/editing it . Apart from that the reports can be stored as library and then shared with others .
