    INTRO:

    The debate around assisted suicide refuses to dieand it's getting no help. But should the medical profession be

    empowered to end a life that doesn't feel worth living? Newsjack has been granted access to one such discussion.

    1. F/X:

    HOSPITAL BACKGROUND NOISES, LIFE SUPPORT PINGS

    2. MRS LIBDEM:

    Doctor, is there anything you can do?.

    DOCTOR:

    It is our opinion that there is very little hope of recovery, the signs of life are there but there is little we can do except keep

    them stable.

    4. MRS LIBDEM:

    It's no life, they can't even communicate without

    assistance Doctor there was talk of something that could be done to put [sighs] make them more "comfortable" they've been like this since 2010that's two years with no signs of life.

    DOCTOR:

    I'm sorry Mrs LibDem but even in circumstances where the all hope is lost, my hippocratic oath prevents me from helping a

    centre-left political party to die.

    But they've only being kept alive by machines, they can't

    survive without being tethered to that horrible clanking thing.

    7. DOCTOR:

    It was their choice to go into coalition with the Tories, there's simply nothing I can do. 'Locked In' syndrome is a terrible condition, it's known as Clegg's elbowor is it another part of the anatomy

    I can hear them begging, the conference managed to

    communicate a message. They want to die. If you'd known them just a few years ago, what an active, progressive party they were. Full of life, full of ideas, full of hummus. Do we just have to watch them waste away until the next election?

    DOCTOR:

    If only they'd left a living will, the Swiss solution might be an option. If only they'd signed something.

    10. MRS LIBDEM:

    Well they're about to push though the NHS Bill this week.
