ASTM A530/ASME SA530 STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIALIZED CARBON AND ALLOY STEEL PIPE1

(ASTM A 530 / ASME SA 530 /ASTMA530/ASMESA530)

1. Scope 1.1 This specification2 covers a group fo requirements which, with the exceptions of Sections 4.3, 12, 19, and 20, are mandatory requirements to the ASTM pipe product specifications noted below unless the product specification specifies differnt requirements, in which case the requirement of the product specification shall prevail. 1.2 Sections 4.3 or 6 are amndatory if the product specification has a requirement for product analysis or flattening tests. 1.3 Section 20 is mandatory if the product specification has a hydrostatic test requirement without defing the test parameters. 1.4 Section 16 is for information only. 1.5 In case of confict between a requirement of the product specification and a reqirement of this general requirement specification, only the requirement of the of the product specification need be satisfied. 1.6 The values stated in either inch-pound units of SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackert. the values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combinging values from the two systems may result in nonconformace with the specification. The inch-pound units shall apply unless the "M"designation(SI) fo the product specification is specified in the order. Note 1-The dimensionless designator NPS(nominal pipe size)has been substituted in this standard for suchtraditional terms as "nominal diameter," " size," and "nominal size."
