Photography Contest

A picture is worth a thousand words!
India a land of myriad images – colorful, vibrant, poignant and enthralling!
If your lens can capture the magic of India then you can participate
in the INDIA Future of Change Photography Contest.

The INDIA Future of Change Photography contest invites all –


Amateurs and Professional Photographers from all over the world to capture
their image of India that best portrays any one or more or all of the five contest
themes under “Tradition and Modernity in India”.

Contest Themes
Theme 1. Tradition and Modernity: Festivals of India
Theme 2. Tradition and Modernity: Homes in India
Theme 3. Tradition and Modernity: Architecture
Theme 4. Tradition and Modernity: Spirituality
Theme 5. Tradition and Modernity: Rural India

Contest Categories
Category 1. Amateur Photographers
Category 2. Professional Photographers

Prizes
• Two winners in each Contest Theme in each Contest Category:
(A total of ten winners in each Contest Category. Twenty winners in all.)
• One Cash Prize of US$ 5000 in each of the themes.
• A fifteen day all-expenses-paid vacation to select destinations in India for all winners.
• Top 20 entries to be exhibited at the INDIA Future of Change Showcase
at the Kirchner Museum, Davos, Switzerland, January 26-30, 2011 on the sidelines
of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
Rules of Participation
Eligibility
• Entry to the contest is open to both amateurs and professionals.
• There is no age limit for the participants.
• The participant must ensure that he/she registers and submits for the correct category,
i.e. amateur segment or professional segment of the Photography Contest.
Submission in an incorrect category will lead to disqualification.
• Participation is open to individuals only.

Technical Criteria
• Photographs must be in digital format, no print or film submissions will be permitted.
• The submissions must be in .jpeg format.
The file size of each entry must not be more than 10 MB.
• The photographs can be in horizontal or vertical formats.
• The submitted work must not contain material(s) offensive to any particular
community, group, individual or institution.
• Photo-editing can only be done to the extent of cropping, minor colour correction
and tinting. Stitched panoramas are acceptable only if all parts are photographed at the
same time. Any of the allowed alterations, once made, must be clearly mentioned at
the time of submission.
• Photographs previously published in any media or entered for any award
will be disqualified.
• Photographs should be submitted electronically
to [email protected]
by December 15, 2010, 12.00 hrs GMT.
• All photographs will be displayed in www.flickr.com page of INDIA Future of Change.
• Each participant can submit a maximum of three entries for each of the contest
themes. Judging will be based on a single image and not on a series of images.
• Submitted entries should not have been previously published.
• Submitted entries that have previously been awarded at other competitions
will not be considered eligible for entry and will face immediate disqualification.

Rights and Reproduction


• Any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for the contest is the
photographer’s property. However, by submitting a photograph in the competition,
the participant agrees to give INDIA Future of Change the first right of refusal
to the exclusive use of the picture. This option is valid until 31 March 2012.
• All participants agree to allow their entries to be published or showcased by INDIA
Future of Change. INDIA Future of Change retains the right to publish the submissions
and information associated with them and the participants in all communication
exercises for INDIA Future of Change campaign.
• INDIA Future of Change or any employee or agent of INDIA Future of Change
will NOT be liable for:
(a) any costs incurred or loss or liability suffered by the participants in relation
to the program
(b) any lost expectation of profits by participant
(c) any failure by participant to understand their rights in relation to Intellectual
Property, or the rights of The Organizers in relation to Intellectual Property
(d) any other benefit applicants may expect to gain by participating in the program.
• INDIA Future of Change may change the Terms and Conditions of participation at any
time without specific notice. The amended Terms and Conditions of Entry will be
effective immediately upon being posted on www.indiafutureofchange.com. Important
changes to the Terms and Conditions will be highlighted on www.indiafutureofchange.
com for your convenience; however, you acknowledge that it is your sole responsibility
to regularly visit www.indiafutureofchange.com to read any changes to the Terms and
Conditions of Entry. Conditions apply.
• Disputes, if any, are subject to the jurisdiction in the courts of Delhi, India only.

Selection Criteria
The picture will be judged on the relevance and the quality of perspective presented
within the context the contest theme.

Selection Procedure
• All entries will be reviewed by a panel of renowned Indian and international
photographers and other luminaries.
• There is no fixed matrix of judging criteria. All entries will be judged individually
and the winners selected by consensus of the Jury.

Important Dates
Registration and Submission
• Registration opens on 15 September 2010, 0900 hrs GMT
• Registration closes on 2 December 2010, 12.00 hrs GMT
• Submission closes on 15 December 2010, 12.00 hrs GMT

Declaration of Results
• Top ten winners in each of the categories will be announced by January 15, 2011.
• The Grand Prizes will be announced in March, 2011 during the Valedictory function
in New Delhi. Exact date of the Award Ceremony will be communicated to the winners
in January.
