Job Description:
Professor / Associate professor/ Senior lecturer/ Lecturer:
The University of Dodoma offers employment appointments to experts on the terms and
conditions set out here under:-
1. Designation:
The level of entry (e.g. Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer) will be
based on one’s qualifications, publications, experience.
2. Tenure:
The appointment is on contract terms for two years renewable by mutual agreement. The
period of two years includes 3 months of paid leave at the end of the contract. In the event an
employee decides to terminate his/her services with the University before the expiry of his/her
contract, paid leave will be granted to him/her on a pro-rata basis.
3. Probation:
The employee will initially be on probation for a period of six months, at the end of which and
subject to his/her work and conduct being satisfactory, he/she will be eligible for confirmation
in his/her appointment.

6. Travel Assistance:
The employer will provide travel assistance to the employee and his/her spouse on
appointment and termination of appointment in accordance with the applicable provisions of
the Terms and Conditions of Services of the University of Dodoma. The entitlement is as a
general rule by economy class air only. In the event the staff, voluntarily terminates his/her
appointment within six months after taking up the contract, the staff will be required to
refund one half of the cost of passages which the University will have incurred on his/her
behalf. If on the other hand, the staff voluntarily terminates his/her appointment thereafter
and before the expiry of the contract the staff will not be granted return passages.
7. Baggage allowance:
The staff will be given allowance of 50 kilos unaccompanied by air or 80 cubic feet by sea on
appointment and termination of appointment. The provisions of paragraph 6 shall apply
mutatis muntandis in relation to baggage allowance.
8. Housing:
The staff will be provided with free housing.
9. Gratuity
The staff will be entitled to twenty-five per centum (25%) of his/her salary upon satisfactory
completion of the contract subject to withholding for such income tax as may be payable
thereon.
11. Termination:
Either party may terminate the appointment by giving to the other party three months’ notice
in writing of the intention to do so or paying the equivalent of one month’s gross salary in lieu
thereof
