close to step up and bring her
murderer to justice, better yet
anybody in Raveback City could
bring in criminals living under our
noses in this society
JOHN looks back a FRAMED PICTURE of him and his wife, LINDA. He
picks it up, reminded of her passing. He SMOKES his cigarette, and
walks to his wardrobe.
JOHN OPENS his wardrobe inside amongst his clothes
Camera pans down to two PISTOLS and a PLAIN, BLACK MASK. He takes a
puff of his cigarette. He SHUTS the wardrobe.

STEVE
Th- thank you. Pass me the tissues.
JOHN
No. Please, let me help. I know how
it feels. Youre just lucky it
didnt happen worse to yourself.
STEVE
Is it one of those cases where
someone gets killed? That happens
all theJOHN
My wife and unborn child were
gunned down and I was in the Middle
East.
JOHN doesnt feel comfortable, but knew he had to get his point
across. A long pause arises STEVE feels sorry and bad for his
comments.
STEVE

Im so sorry. If Ida known
JOHN
Its fine, honestly. It was just
the sense of hopelessness that got
to me the most, yknow. Your future
family, swept under their feet
and there was nothing you couldve
done to prevent it.
A TEAR rolls down JOHNs face. He gives the tissues to STEVE, and
takes out a cigarette and lights it.
JOHN (contd)
She was 17 when I met her, you
know; only met her by sneaking into
a nightclub. (chuckles) First drink
I treated her to was a glass of
whiskey, which was probably a bad
choice she really didnt like it.
STEVE
If you feel so hopeless, then maybe
you should redeem yourself.
John LOOKS UP.
STEVE
This new government act; it could
be an opportunity.
JOHN
If I dare tried to do anything, I
wouldnt be any better than the
murderers of my wife and the pieces
of shit whove done this to you.
Ive served in the army I killed
people every day. Ive even watched
the Americans do it to innocents.
And the added turmoil of my familySTEVE
And youre just going to carry on
letting them get away like just
now?
JOHN
Well, no, butSTEVE
But what? You know this city is bad
when the government wants ordinary
citizens to start bringing people
in.
JOHN continues to smoke. He gets up.

JOHN
Forget I was ever here. Get
yourself to a hospital.
He walks away. STEVE LOOKS in need, but LOOKS BACK DOWN after he
doesnt get JOHNs attention.
CUT TO:
INT. APARTMENT NIGHT
JOHN is watching television, with a CAN OF BEER next to him trying
to put behind what Steve tried convincing him to do. On the
television is CELEBRITY JUICE.
But he cant enjoy it Steves voice keeps repeating in his head.
As the voices play in his head, he gets agitated and flustered.
STEVE (voice)
If your wifes death were in the
hands of the scum in this city,
then maybe she would want you to do
something about it. And youre just
going to carry on letting them get
away like just now?! But what? You
know this city is bad when the
government wants ordinary citizens
to start bringing people in.
JOHN shouts in anger and THROWS his CIGARETTE angrily. He follows
through by also throwing his BEER and everything on his TABLE. He
picks up LINDAs PICTURE - then pauses.
JOHN momentarily LOOKS at the PICTURE. He slowly and softly PUTS it
down. He then looks at his WARDROBE.
Inside the wardrobe - his TWO HANDGUNS and a BLACK MASK. He pauses,
as he looks down at the objects.
