A risk assessment should be carried out to ensure safe mooring practices. Key factors include regularly inspecting and servicing all mooring equipment, using lines fit for their purpose, properly securing lines to adequate mooring points, and keeping people clear of moorings under load and away from danger zones. Both the master and terminal representative should work to ensure lines are properly managed during the vessel's stay.
