To Whom It May Concern:

I have applied for a position as an Elementary School Teacher with your district. I am interested
in the position with your school district because it offers an ideal opportunity to apply my skills,
training, and knowledge of elementary education.
Currently, I am a 2nd Grade Teacher at La Verne Elementary Preparatory Academy in Hesperia,
California. Previously, I have worked for the Hesperia Unified School District as an Elementary
School Teacher grade 2 and 4 from 2007 to 2009. I was also a substitute teacher for grades K-12
for 3 years with HUSD. I obtained my Associates in Arts and Science Degrees from Riverside
Community College in June 2001 and my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies from the
University of Redlands in August 2006, Teaching Credential at the University of Redlands May
2007. I passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) in February 2005 and
passed the CSET in November 2006. I was also recognized as being on the Dean's List at the
University of Redlands in 2002.
Prior to working at the Hesperia Unified School District, I worked at the Val Verde Unified
School District in Moreno Valley as a Clerk Typist II for six years. As a Clerk Typist, I had the
opportunity to interact with the public from students, parents, staff, social workers, and
administration. I worked in conjunction with the Counseling Department regularly on
assignments such as registration, graduation, and state testing. In dealing with student records, I
appreciate the importance of confidentiality and organization.
I enjoy working with children and I believe that my professional and personal experiences have
prepared me for a job as an educator. I will bring into your school district my commitment and
desire to become an effective teacher. It is also my goal to work collaboratively with all faculty
and staff, the student body, parents, and community members.
If you agree that an individual with my background and room for growth would be a valuable
asset to your district, I would look forward to an interview at your earliest convenience. I look
forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Respectfully,

Kristy Ashlock
