What is Prostate Cancer?


Cancer that occurs in a
man's prostate
One of the most
common types of
cancer in men
Grows slowly and
remains confined to the
prostate gland

Symptoms
Problems urinating
Blood in the urine
Pain in the body
Weakness or
numbness

Causes of the Cancer:


Some men inherit the
Hereditary Prostate
Cancer Gene 1 (HPC1
Gene)
Changes in the
BRCA1 or BRCA2
genes
Inflammation
Androgen and IGF-1
Exposure to radiation

Prevention:
Some drugs might
help reduce the risk
Taking certain
vitamins or mineral
supplements
Effects of body
weight and physical
activity

Treatments:
Active surveillance
Radiation Therapy
Chemotherapy
Surgery
Bone-directed
treatment
Hormone therapy

How is it Diagnosed?
Screening with a
prostate-specific antigen
(PSA)
Blood test
Digital rectal exam (DRE)
Prostate biopsy
Sometimes first found
because of symptoms
they cause

Who is Likely to Have it?


Men are most likely
to have prostate
cancer
The older you are,
the higher your risk

Application

getting this cancer increases
It can easily be prevented with good
health and proper vitamins
Also yearly visits to the clinic to reassure
