KELLYVILLE OVER 35/1S!

MAY 5, 2012

LID-COMB-OVER!!!
Goal Scorers

Man of the Match

Trev 2, Jaime, Alex (pen)

The Mighty Kellyville enjoyed a memorable

victory today. After going behind by a goal early in
the second half, the boys produced a stirring
fightback to brush aside Lidcombe.
Kellyville took control early, keeping possession from
back to front. A couple of half chances went unconverted
as everybody swam through the sand on Bernie 2. (Vlad
tripping on a sandbar wasnt missed by the boys on the
sideline!)
Lidcombe had speed up front and looked to counter
when possible. Their endeavours were rewarded on 20
minutes, when they received a penalty... which they duly
converted.
Kellyville immediately pushed and won their own
penalty two minutes later. This one went unconverted.
The pressure continued until halftime when Kellyville
was awarded another penalty. This time Alex stepped up,
and after the ref had already blown for the break had to
get it spot on - he did o the underside of the crossbar. 1-1
at the break.
After the break Kellyville again dominated.
Unfortunately again on the counter, Lidcombe were
rewarded when an error at the back let them nip in for a
second.
With 2o minutes remaining and Kellyville down the
game drifted until the team got more direct. Lidcombe
couldnt go with runners and were looking to hold on this
far out. Noons and Fewelly dominated at the back

constantly winning in the air and turning away their

counter attacks. Jaime and Alex ran the centre of the park
and kept the ball rolling - Lidcombe had no time to relax.
The ville lifted and were patient as the Lidcombe
keeper produced save after save from well struck
chances...eventually the break came however...
As Harry turned himself inside out on the right wing,
Trevor began a run that would result in one of the finest
footballing moments on Bernie 2.
The cross curled towards the far post saw Trevor, on
the end of yet another 40 yard run, faced with needing to
outjump the defender and beat the unbeatable keeper - he
was up to it! He rose high above the defender heading
down between the keepers legs for the equaliser.
This was a classic turning point moment as
Lidcombes heads dropped and not only was the game
gone but probably their confidence for the rest of the
season.
Jaime went on to score (sure some people consider
the winner important but really in this match it was
probably the equaliser and the sealer that were key?!) and
Trevor scored the sealer!
Man of the match voting was clear cut....with Donny
not showing up, the boys were forced to vote in the next
best....
