My Life
Cover letter..
The thing that went well during the writing of my draft is how I started the writing from
the beginning of my literacy in reading and writing, and the challenging things that i faced when
I was a kid in elementary school till a grown kid in high school.
What was challenging in this writing is how I combined everything I learned since my
elementary school life till the high school. And how I remembered some of the things in the
elementary school and middle school that helped me to make my draft better.
The passage that I want to keep is paragraph 4 and one that I want to revise is the last
paragraph.
The question that I want to ask you is weather you think my writing is good or not? no
grammar mistakes included

My life
I was only 5 years old when my father my father took me to school. I was afraid about how
I was going to spend most of my day away from my family, and how I was going to talk to
strangers. It was a nightmare. I still remember the first day I got there and the last moment of that
day.
On the first day of school, because I studied in Kuwait, the teachers taught me everything
on Arabic. I began to learn the letters, then numbers, after that words, and then sentences. My
first class was Math. It was one of my worst class days back then because I remember I said
three in Arabic in a funny way that everyone in class laughed at me. I was young so Thats why I
said it in a funny way. However, with time, I began pronouncing every number in a perfect way.
After the math class, I had an Arabic class. I remember when the teacher first saw me she said,
Hey there, whats your name? and how old are you? I answered, my name is Abdulatif and Im 5
years old. After getting to know each of the students, the teacher began to write something on
the board. It was something like Hello, my name is Mrs. Jessica and Im your Arabic teacher .
I learned how to write Hello which was really hard to write back in the days.

When I got back home from school on the first day, my dad asked me What did you
learn? I answered Numbers . After he told me that, he tutored me and gave me a blank sheet
of paper to write the numbers from 1 to 10. I got only 4 right and the rest were wrong. He gave
me another sheet of paper to try to write A, B, C, & D . I wrote all of the letters right and he
brought me a teddy bear as a gift. By the time, I got used to everything, such as reading and
writing a sentence, reading and writing numbers. The main reason behind that was my father. He
tutored me a lot so I nailed what I want.
After finishing the first semester in first grade, a new subject was added to our class, It was
English. From the moment the English teacher showed up and wrote on the board Hello class,
my name is Mrs.Sarah , I liked how the English is written from left to write, the opposite of the
Arabic. I actually liked English more than Arabic since the first day of class. I liked the fact that
the letters are separated from one another, not like Arabic.
After I finished the first 4 years in elementary school, I knew how to write and read
perfectly. When I got to Middle school, I had new subjects that were hard for me, especially after
going from the transition from elementary school to middle school.
First day of classes was better than the first day classes in elementary school because I got
used to the system in school and I had some friends and everything was simple. The first class
was science. It was hard a little bit because the teacher showed us something like a syllabus and
we had to do a lot of one page research about the things that we studied about. Also I didn't know
how to use the computer that much and how to do a research. So it was a quite challenging for
me.
The first research he gave us was only after a week from the first week of the beginning of
classes. I went to my father to help me do the research, but he told me Latif, Youre old now, so

you need to work on your own . The reason why he said that because he wanted to give me
responsibility from the childhood so I could responsible in such things. So I opened my fathers
computer and wrote down on google what I want to do research of. I didn't find much
information because I didn't know how to use google back in the days. So I wrote the research
and I got a C on it because I didn't do it in a way that it has to be done.
After that I began to learn how to use the computer for doing research, and some of my
homework. My big brother taught me how to use the computer. He taught me how to get to
google and search for the perfect information for my homework of research. After that, It was
easy for me to do research for my science teacher.
In math class, I began to learn equations and some complicated things. First it was hard for
me because it was something completely new. Then, everything went so easy with me. However,
I failed in the first test because the day before I didn't get enough sleep.
By the time, I learned from my mistakes and I need to solve everything to get a great GPA.
So I brought a tutor to my house for 2 classes, math, and science. The tutor was impressed of my
skills and he also asked me Why did you brought me here if you know everything? I
answered I dont know, I feel that Im not good at exams, but good at homework . He
understood my problem and he gave me a lot of practice exams in order to do well in the exams.
The reason behind this is that during exams, I get a lot of stress and worry because when the
paper is in-front of me, I cant even take it easy. Its just surreal.
My hand got used to the equations and I began to write them down so fast. I became good
at equations because my tutor gave me a lot of equations to do so I could improve my skilss.
Thanks for my or for helping me be at this level.

At eighth grade, I failed on math because my uncle died and I went to his funeral and
couldn't study for the exams. After the funeral, I went home and I looked the door and I was
crying because my uncle was just like an idol to me. He used to play with me soccer every
Thursday and he was the guy who taught me how to play soccer. My father was knocking the
door and tell me Latif, go study! I answered I cant . So thats why I failed in the final
exam and failed in the course.
In ninth grade, my history class teacher came to me and told me that he is interested in me
joining the schools team in history competition against other schools. I joined the team because
the teacher used to treat me well and I had to do something for him in order to make him proud.
Our team won the first place and I had a special gift because I was the team leader. Ive learned a
lot of things in the last year of my middle school such as things in history that I need to know as
an information about life. For example, knowing about the history of Kuwait and how Kuwait
got from this point to that point. I also learned that while I worked hard in something and I
fought for it, such as wining the first place, I got what I deserved, wining a special gift.
Finally, when I went to high school, I knew everything was going to be hard and I really
need to work hard in order to get a good GPA to enter a good university and get a scholarship.
Tenth Grade was a little bit different for me because it was the first year that I had physics,
chemistry, and biology classes. Physics was about conversions and about power and these kind
of things. So I began to write a lot of new things and experiencing things that I never knew in my
life. I began to bring a tutor for most of my classes because things were getting real.
The chemistry class was the hardest class ever because we were talking about acids,
combustions and these kind of chemical reactions. However, biology was the easiest, but it was a
lot. It was amazing how I was learning about the parts of my body and other living things body.

In my senior year at high school, I had to attend one elective class that the schools
requires, so i chose music. Ive always been a fan of Green Day the band and how the guitar
player Billie Joe Armstrong plays the guitar and the way he plays with it was like he has
something in his heart that he want to share with someone but he couldn't share that thing in
words, so he shared it in the guitar. So Ive always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I went
to first class session and I saw everyone with their guitars tuned and their bass, and I was looking
at all of them and everyone was expert on their instruments and I was like a wallflower there.
The teacher asked me if I really want to lean the chords and the music language I call it. I
answered yes . So I learned some chords with the teacher that I had to go home that day and
really ask my father to buy me a guitar. My father bought me one and since that day, Ive been
working hard everyday to play Green Day songs, to learn their chords, to write lyrics and begin
to improve my vocabulary in order to make a good song.
At the end of my last high school semester, my music teacher came to me and told me that
one day Ill be in a band which I will rock n roll because he saw my grades and my hard work in
that class. I was awake all night long just learning the chords and writing lyrics. After being in
love with music, writing has been an inspiration thing for me.
Ive always wanted to be a musician, and write songs and making albums, but,
unfortunately, this field in Kuwait has no future at all because it is not needed by the society and
by my country. My country needs engineers, and doctors. Thats why I decided to enter
mechanical engineering to improve my literacy in mechanics, in math, chemistry, and physics. It
is possible to study mechanical engineering for the job that I want to be in and to be a musician
on the other side, but I cant focus on two things at the same time.
MOHAMMAD 7
The reason why most people want to be a literate in something is to get a job when they
grow up. And for some, who works hard, they need a perfect job when he/she grows up. Without
literacy, there is no technology, no improvements in this world.
