    Over the years we have learned that some of our students have come to regard the ACT college admissions
    test as a welcome alternative/addition to the SAT. In order for students to experience the similarities and
    differences between the two types of tests, we are delighted to offer the ACT practice tests at Sturgis for the
    first time this year.
    This test will be administered free of charge by Kaplan Test Prep. Scores will only be distributed to students
    and counselors, not to colleges.
    Students should bring lunch on 12/11 and be prepared to begin testing at 12:00.
    Students should bring 2 #2 pencils and a calculator to the test room.
    Arrange for your students transportation from Sturgis at 4:30 pm.

    For Next Spring: The Real Thing


    We are now promoting the ACT+Writing test for our students
    Beginning in March, the SAT will be a new, redesigned instrument. We strongly recommend that our students
    take the ACT+Writing rather than the SAT this spring.

    Why?
    Colleges are not familiar with the scoring norms for the new SAT and will be more comfortable assessing
    student ACT+Writing scores. We do not recommend that students test earlier than the April or June test dates.
    Some juniors may feel that they would like to take the November version of the SAT. After careful
    consideration of the content delivery still ahead for students in our classrooms, we discourage this strategy.

    Register for June ACT + writing now at act.org


    Because informed counselors nationally are directing juniors to the April or June ACT+Writing test, and test
    centers are few and far between, we ask that juniors register NOW at the act.org website, to insure that test
    centers close to home will still have seats for them. Fee waivers available for qualified students.
