Photosynthesis demonstration: Oxygen Release

Aim

To see how many bubbles hydrilla plants made in bright and dark places.
Apparatus

Test tube
Pen/Pencil
Literature
Cupboard
Materials

Hydrilla plant
Water
Alcohol
Procedure

1.
2.
3.
4.

Clean the test tube and put water inside it.

Put the hydrilla plant inside the test tube.
Make sure the hydrilla plant is inside the test tube.
Wait for the bubble to come out from the hydrilla plant, and record the result
every 5 minutes.
5. Do it in the dark and bright places.
Theory

Plants need sunlight to do photosynthesis. Therefore, when theyre placed in the

dark places they dont release much oxygen. When theyre placed near the sunlight
they will produce a lot of oxygen (indicated by bubbles) because sunlight is what
they needed to do photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis demonstration: Oxygen Release

Result

When we put it in the dark places, there are almost no bubbles coming out in the
water. Because not occur photosynthesis process until the oxygen not release or
produce. But, when we put it under the sunlight it will produce a lot of bubbles as a
sign of the oxygen formed.
Analyze based on theory :
Based on theory when the hydrilla doesnt get any sunlight, they wont produce
much oxygen because sunlight is what they needed to do photosynthesis. When the
hydrilla is placed under the direct sunlight, they will produce a lot of oxygen
because they have got sunlight and they can do photosynthesis and release
oxygen.
Conclusion

The plants needed sunlight so that they can produce oxygen. The photosynthesis
process cant be done if they dont get any oxygen. So, it is better if we put our
plants outside, so that we could get oxygen that is produced by them.
