Habitat loss from human activities like deforestation, pollution, development, and resource exploitation is the major threat to biodiversity by eliminating millions of species through destruction of forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Habitat loss reduces both the quality and quantity of living spaces and is the primary cause of species extinction globally. While over 1.75 million species have been identified worldwide, warmer, wetter regions that offer diverse topography and climates tend to support the most species.

Major threats to the Biodiversity
Biodiversity is threatened by anthropogenic activities in many ways by destruction
of forests, over- hunting conversion of wet lands and grass lands into industrialization; mining if minerals/ rocks pollution constructions of roads tourism business, exploitation of timber resources etc. to eliminate millions of species. Habitat loss is the major cause of species extinction. Habitat loss may be qualitative and quantitative losses. of species in a region. So far 1.75 million species have been described world wide. Warmer areas tend to support more species than colder ones and wetter areas contain more species than drier ones. Topography and climate of the areas support and control the species of a region.
