    A diary entry is a very personal kind of writing. It is meant to record certain significant events and feelings of
    the writer.
    FORMAT:
    Date/day
    Salutation Dear Diary
    Heading of the entry
    Contents of the diary entry
    Signature
    POINTS TO REMEMBER:
    Creativity, imagination and expression in diary writing are tested.
    You should write as if you have really been a part of the situation.
    It is written in the first person.
    One does not write about things experienced on a daily basis. Only matters of some significance
    are recorded.
    It is a secret record of ones life, so one can be very honest about ones feelings and emotions.
    Examine the sample diary entry below. Underline the appropriate pronoun to make each sentence
    complete.

    A Summer Fun at Grandpas Farm
    Dear Diary,
    It was my first time to visit my grandfathers hometown. It was
    definitely a lot different than what I have expected. Below are my random
    thoughts, experiences, and observations about my experience in the
    province:
    1. Each passenger brought (his, their) own bag to the baggage compartment
    of the bus.
    2. From the station, we hailed a jeep to go to Grandfathers house.
    Imagine my surprise when one of the men took (his, their) seat on the
    roof of the jeep!
    3. When we finally reached our destination, Grandpa and Grandma greeted
    us at the gate. I noticed a few of the farmers removed (his, their)
    hats as we walked past them.
    4. Nobody in our group brought (his, their) watch when we went to the
    lake so we ended up going home late. But that was a lot of fun!
    5. One Sunday, I noticed several of the men gathering in front of an
    establishment with (his, their) roosters. Later I found out that they
    were engaged in cockfighting.
    6. Both of my aunts sent (her, their) fruit produce for me to taste. I
    have never tasted anything as sweet as those mangoesyummy!
    7. All of my uncles told me about (his, their) funny stories in the farm.
    I still laugh whenever I remember what they told me.
    8. Several of my relatives were able to maintain the antique look of
    (his, their) houses. It was truly amazing.
    9. Every one of my cousins asked (his, their) parents if they could go
    and visit me in the city next summer. Guess what? They all gave their
    consents!
    10. Both of my grandparents gave me (its, their) going away present the
    night before I was leaving.
    I had so much fun that I cannot wait to go back. Mom and Dad promised
    that we will plan our visit soon.
