Observation
In church, children learned about their
place in Gods larger family though story
and song. This allows them to
understand who they are through
narrative and a sense of belonging.
A group of children were playing tag
together. It was spontaneous and
playful, encouraging connection with
peers.
When two children were fighting over a
ball, the dad encouraged them to share.
Children need adult guidance to
understand compassion, empathy, and
fairness.
A child was playing Frisbee with his dad.
The dad was very encouraging and
excited about his sons athletic ability.
This type of play fosters an emotional
connection between parent and child.
A Latino nanny was teaching a child new
words in Spanish. This increased the
childs awareness of other cultures and
languages.
A group of girls were using found
objects, like leaves and sticks, to play in
the sand. Their imagination was not
limited to an objects normal function;
instead they used objects in new,
creative ways.
In Sunday School, we learned about the
first Christian church and how God is at
work uniting his people despite
differences of race, gender, culture, etc.
This stands in contrast to a society that
often seeks to divide people into groups.
Through an art project, the children
used their imagination to envision a

diverse community and their role in it.
