Voluntary Work and Work Experience


July - September 2014 Part of The Technical Crew for The Lighthouse Theatre,
Kettering

Experienced the day-to-day running of a professional theatre.

Trained on the lighting deck and rigging. Learned how to programme lights and
create sub masters. Worked on lighting performances in a professional environment.

Regular work among professional and trained staff to expand capabilities within the
theatre.

Worked alongside trained stage manager and experienced this task personally during
performances of Grease.

Introduction to basic theatre sound alongside a sound engineer.

Assisted on the creation of a promotional film.

Participated in taking promotional photographs for the events team and themed nights
at the theatre.

Furthered my team skills by keeping communication going throughout a performance.

August - September 2011 BBC Radio Northampton and The Light House Theatre
Kettering in a Devised Piece

Introduction into time pressured performances devised over two weeks.

Experienced being on stage in a professional theatre and on air on a well known


radio station.

Worked alongside professional radio and theatre crew.

Furthered team skills working in a new environment, where required to bond quickly
with fellow performers.

Introduced to giving interviews for local newspapers and local theatre blogger.
Also shown how to present myself and the performance in this situation.

July - August 2011 Assistant Stage Manager The Stahl Theatre, Oundle

Assisted the stage manager with preparation to the performance of opera Prophet
and Loss.

Worked in all areas across the theatre: costume department, prop and set construction
and alongside the actors for rehearsals. Acquired basic knowledge of the working of
a theatre.

Experienced the pressures of working in a professional theatre alongside the stress


of performance nights.

Education
2012 - June 2015: The University of Reading (Ba) Film, Theatre and Television.
ACHIEVED A 2:1

Enabled to expand current knowledge of performance and the inner workings of


both film and theatre.

Allowed to explore my own ideas and concepts in order to develop my own style as
a practitioner.

Regular work within groups allows for strong communication skills.

Regular quick practical exercises in seminars promoting quick thinking and time pressured activities and ideas.

Introduction to editing skills on Final Cut Pro.


Developed strong presentational and pitching skills.

Participated in large scale first year production of La Ronde. Experienced a more


complex layer of theatre and the use of space.

Basic introduction to a multi-camera studio and visual audio mixing.


Created short films and introduced to many aspects from pre to post production.

Music: Played piano for 16 years and consequently started playing guitar 4 years ago

to expand knowledge and passion for music.

Photography: Expanding my knowledge on composition, beyond cinematography, to


create interesting pictures using a Sony 5N.

Drawing: Developed my own style in drawing to create watercolour and ink


illustrated characters on postcards. Adopted these techniques across into
storyboarding for university film pieces.
