    The 300mm thick grade slab was designed to support a heavy lorry (SLW 60) with an allowable live load of 33.3 kN/m2. The concrete has a characteristic strength (fcu) of 35 N/mm2 and a specified compressive strength (f'c) of 4060 lb/in2. Based on the soil properties, the modulus of subgrade reaction (ks) was determined to be 12790 lb/in2/in. The required reinforcement was calculated to be 12mm diameter bars at 200mm centers in both directions, with an area of steel (Ast) of 565 mm2.
