Over a period of 50 years since 1961 ten important reviews of Behaviroal decision

theory developments have documented in Annual Review of Psychology


1. Becker & McClintock (1967) followed with a discussion of utilities and valuestopics
that link behavioral decision theory to philosophy and other social sciences.
2. Rapoport & Wallsten (1972) presented experimental tests of normative and descriptive
theories with an emphasis on measurement.
3. Paul Slovic, Baruch Fischhoff and Sarah Lichtenstein (1977) both reflected and
anticipated the emerging interest in judgmental heuristics and biases.
4. Einhorn & Hogarth (1981) attempted to reconcile judgmental biases with functional
arguments that imply decisions must be sensible and intelligent.
5. Pitz & Sachs (1984) discussed judgment and decision making in the context of human
information processing.
6. Payne et al (1992) stressed use of multiple decision strategies in the construction of
preferences.
7. Lopes (1994) compared philosophical and methodological views of psychologists and
economists on risk, cooperation, and the marketplace.
8. B. A. Mellers, A. Schwartz, and A. D. J. Cooke (1998) examines assumptions about
rationality and alternative frameworks.
9. P. Hastie(2001) which examines 16 research problems which mainly involve natural
extensions of traditional, originally rational, theories of decision making
10. Itamar Simonson, Ziv Carmon, Ravi Dhar, Aimee Drolet, and Stephen M. Nowlis(2001)
examine two distinctions within the consumer research that compares behavioral
decision theory with social cognition consumer research
