What is the rule of thirds?
The purpose of the rule of thirds is to
imagine you are breaking your picture up
into thirds(both horizontally and vertically)
so that you have nine individual sections.
The rule of three cross grid
With this grid, the
nine sections show
the four most
important parts of
the picture that
you should
consider placing
points of interest in
on each imaginary
cross.
The rule of three line grid
This grid also gives
four lines that are
useful positions for
elements in your
photo.
The theory of the rule of
thirds
The theory that everyone follows is if you put
points of interest in the crosses or along the
lines that your photo becomes more
balanced and will enable the viewer of the
image to be able to relate to it more
naturally.
When using rule of thirds you must:
Consider where the points of interest are in
the shot
Where am I going to place them?
Here are some examples of
