During high school you are required to have four English credits and/or classes. Freshman year you start with English I and junior year end on English III. English electives that are offered to achieve your last English credit are Film Studies, Journalism, and Creative Writing. I took journalism and creative writing to substitute that last credit just to have a mix of different English electives and they were really fun classes. My sophomore year of English was one of my stronger years of English. I had English II and creative writing that year and I had learned a lot about writing and how to write throughout creative writing in the first trimester. By the time I had English II, in my second trimester, I was ready to write our persuasive essay that is required for that class. This was one of my best assignments in there because my topic was raising student-athlete eligibility standards. I believe very strongly that student-athletes should have at least a C average to play a sport. I showed my arguments very well in this paper and received a very good grade on one of my strongest beliefs. The following year was my toughest year of English, but it prepared me very well for the future. My favorite part of English III was reading Macbeth and watching the movie. I absolutely enjoyed the drama and the plot overall. The test of Macbeth was one of my best English tests throughout high school. I worked hard the week and night before to do my best on both portions of the test including essays. The test was out of roughly eighty questions and my score showed that I only missed three total questions. This was my most proud piece in that class. In the future Im going to be able to use what I learned in English III to help me on writing papers and taking tests. A huge part of English III was learning how to eliminate and dissect the reading more and in college thats going to help me a lot when Im struggling and digging deeper into the subject and what I already know. What I learned by writing my persuasive essay was that if I have to be I can persuade someone very well. When I am a doctor and a patient doesnt think that he or she shouldnt get surgery or take the medicine I prescribe Ill be able to persuade them into realizing its the best thing for them and the only way we can start to cure them. English is also just a huge part of everyday life and Ive noticed that I use better gramm ar already because of how much its been repeated and taught to me in the last four years.
