Bend County Sheriff, MO. City Police Department and Sugar Land Police Department. SHAC will look further into thismaybe piggy-back on to this event as a pre-promotion for starting this for the 2014-2015 school year. Cathy Hunter mentioned the concept of a Buddy Bench. This is a bench set aside during recess that someone who is lonely/sad sits on. When the other kids see this, they go over and play with the kid. Health and Physical Education Services (Annette Henderson) - CPR training can be done by teachers in a blended learning environment. An online lecture at home can be watched by the students and runs about 1 hours (equals two class days). Then, if they are getting certification, the teachers can perform the Hands-On part. - Potential issues: (1) mannequin availability; (2) where are we going to get them?; (3) cleaning supplies; and (4) storage for units. - A discussion took place after this report. Grayle suggested this needs to be in the curriculum at 7th grade and in high school. - As a reminderthe 135/week of movement is required (SB 19) and structured play can be a part of this requirement. - Another discussion occurred on the exact definition of structured play and where it needs to be. - The general concerns about recess: (1) needs to be in an academic day; and (2) regulated recess play does not count. - The 135 seems to be piece-mailed together right now. We need to work on a proposal for this to come together for our students.
