    We have begun to focus on money: penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. We have worked on identifying these coins and have continued to practice adding different coins to make sums. Please practice identifying these coins with your child at home.

    I hope everyone had a wonderful week so far. Here are some things that went on this week:

    Shared Reading
    We focused on middle vowel sounds /oo/ and /ee/. We see these in words like moon and green. We practiced writing words with these sounds. We also worked really hard We read: The Day the Goose Got Loose Zoo The Meanies Came to School Where is the Green Sheep? Ten Silly Sheep When Sheep Sleep

    Reminders and FYI...


    Read Across America is Friday, February 28. All students are invited to wear crazy hats in honor of the book Cat in the Hat. Crazy hats can be worn for a monetary donation to Relay for Life (any amount will do!!). Please make sure you are checking and initialing your childs Daily Folder every night. The folder goes home EVERY day so it should always be in their backpack. I use this folder to help maintain a constant dialogue with you about your childs behavior and send home any important papers that need to go home immediately. It really helps your child be accountable for their actions at school and follow MARK YOUR up at home. Thank you so CALENDAR: much for your continued support in working with your February 28 Read Across America wonderful child.

    Theme
    We finished up our research on Mount Kilimanjaro this week. We learned so many interesting facts. We brainstormed ways to create this mountain in our classroom and signed up for jobs to recreate it in our room. We will begin talking about what we would like to learn more about in Africa on Friday and into next week.
