DURING UNIT-2 OVERHAUL LP TURBINE LAST STAGE BLADE INSPECTION WAS CARRIED OUT AS PER THE SCHEDULED OEM RECCOMONDATION AFTER 75000 RUNNING HRS.

DURING INSPECTION 5 NO. BLADES OF GENERATOR SIDE & 6 NO. BLADES OF IP TURBINE SIDE FOUND LOOSE.

EXPERT ADVICED TO REMOVE ALL THE LOOSE BLADES FROM POSITION OEM EXPERT SUGGESTED TO REMOVE THE ROTOR FROM THE POSITION FOR REMOVAL OF LOOSE BLADES.

IN KWU TURBINE LPT LAST STAGE BLADES WERE LOCKED FROM BOTH SIDES BY THE CLAMPING PIECE AND LOCKING PLATES. FOR THIS M/C LP ROTOR SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM POSITION TO REPLACE THE CLAMING PIECES. IN ABB M/C THE LAST STAGE BLADES OF THE LPT WERE LOCKED BY 4 NOS SUB STRUCTURE SPRINGS ( 2 NOS EACH ON BOTH ENDS) WITH ONE SIDE LOCKED BY 2 NOS L-TYPE AXIAL LOCKS ON THE OUTTER SIDE.

AXIAL LOCKS ON THE OUTTER SIDE

HENCE IT WAS DECIDED TO CARRY OUT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SUBSTRUCTURE SPRINGS FOR THE LOOSE BLADES, IN-SITU.

REMOVING BLADE FROM THE ROOT

L-TYPE AXIAL LOCK SEGMENTS

DP TEST DONE BEFORE BOX UP

REPLACED WITH NEW SUB STRUCTURE SPRINGS

FIXING THE BLADE WITH NEW SPRINGS

NEW L-TYPE LOCKING SEGMENTS IN POSITION

CAULKING OF L-TYPE SEGMENTS
