e of Evaluation: Which Task? Problem Solving: I can use the Explore Simpler Cases problem solving strategy to solve problems. I draw upon problem solving strategies and persevere in solving genuine *problems (*genuine problems are problems for which the solver has no clear algorithm to follow that is guaranteed to lead to an answer). Comments: Representations: I can change the representation of a problem to me help make progress in solving it. I can represent patterns (and other relationships) using T-charts, diagrams, verbal and written descriptions, and numerical and symbolic equations. Comments: Looking for Structure & Generalizing I can describe how the figures in a picturepattern are changing from instance to instance. I can find and describe a recursive rule that can be used to extend a pattern. I can find and describe an explicit rule that can be used to describe a relationship between two linked quantities. Comments:

X = Missed Opportunity; My work fails to address this target. 1 = I Need Help; I didnt know what to do; I got stuck part way through; or I relied on help from others. 2 = I Need Some Feedback; I think I understand, but Im not sure. 3 = I Need to Practice; I usually know what to do, but I have to work at it. Sometime I make mistakes. With more practice, I think I will be able to do this consistently. 4 = Im Good at This; I can do this consistently and catch my own mistakes. 5 = I Own This; I really feel like I understand, and I can communicate my understanding in a way that helps others understand it too.
