    am pleased to be writing a letter of recommendation on behalf of Mary Ciotta. I had the pleasure of working with Mary from August to December, 2012. She completed the first semester of her student teaching internship year in my regular education third grade classroom. Mary's compassion, consistent approach, and committment to educating children became apparent to me during our time working together.

    During Mary's student internship she successfully planned for and implemented daily instruction in math, reading workshop, social studies as well as managing the morning and end of day routines and weekly read aloud. ln math, Mary used a variety of approaches to meet the needs of individual students, often having them work in small groups and rotating through stations. ln reading, Mary was responsible for planning daily mini lessons, guided reading lessons, and responding to student reading response notebooks. She worked to provide lessons that met the needs of her students as well as the demands of the third grade curriculum. Mary effectively explained instructions through a variety of strategies including modeling, think aloud, and visual reminders.
    Mary shows respect for her students and they enjoy working with her. She has a positive, caring and supportive personality that her students relate to well. Mary quickly notices individual student needs and works on differentiating instruction to ensure student success. Mary is able to maintain a classroom management system that is supportive of maximizing time on task and student learning. Mary is a hard working, reflective educator.
