Colonial SLES-2

CTFA/INCI: Sodium Laureth Sulfate

DESCRIPTION
Colonial SLES-2 is a sodium salt of lauryl alcohol ethoxy sulfate containing an average
of 2 moles of ethylene oxide. It is a light liquid of medium viscosity, sparkling clarity and
mild odor. Colonial SLES-2 is biodegradable.

Color (% T, 440nm, 1cm) 90 min.
Viscosity (25°C, cps) 800 max.

APPLICATIONS
Shampoos
Colonial SLES-2 produces suds that are mild, gentle and profuse. Shampoos and
bubble baths, compounded from Colonial SLES-2 and alkanolamides, perform well
under a range of conditions. The addition of organic salts produces remarkable
increases in viscosity, making economical formulas possible. Colonial SLES-2
generates a slightly wetter foam than a one mole ether sulfate.

Miscellaneous
Colonial SLES-2 is relatively unaffected by hard water and is useful in many cleansing
applications.
