OEWD had 1,637 San Francisco resident enrolled in programs between July and December of 2012, and placed 846 San Francisco residents in unsubsidized employment. Top placements were as home heath caregivers, housekeepers / janitors or clerical/admin support. Kicked off TechSF Training Academy with 80 participants in October, 2012 Launched Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) with 30 participants in July, 2012 Implemented new Hospitality Job Readiness Training with 50 participants and published Hospitality Workforce Resource Guide in July 20, 12 Began Program Year in July with 43 new grants to Community Based Organizations for Workforce Services, administering over $11 million in grant funding. OEWD RFP #113 released on December 10, 2012 with responses received on January 17, 2013. An estimated $12 million of workforce services will be procured. Managing Three Federal DOL grants for Tech, DEI, and Transitions SF Continuing Reconnecting All through Multiple Pathways (RAMP) Academy for young adults with 32 students graduating this quarter Interdepartmental Workforce Planning: Violence Prevention Designing subsidized employment program as part of the Interrupt, Plan and Organize (IPO) initiative. Target store and new restaurant hiring through South of Market Employment Center St. Regis Hotel and Clift Hotel hiring through Hospitality Initiative Wells Fargo, Allstate Insurance and Mass Mutual hiring event at Chinatown One Stop SFO job fair Health Care hiring through InHome Support Services, Senior Care, Self Help for the Elderly Bi-Rite Markets new store, slated to open mid-2013 at Divisadero and Hayes Streets in the Western Addition, will coordinate employment information and events with the Workforce Division as it hires up in advance of its opening. Whole Foods has begun talks with the Workforce Division to initiate a pilot hiring program for San Francisco residents. The Workforce Investment Board of San Francisco (WISF) has grown its membership to almost 50 members, with 64% of members being employers. The WISF approved the framework for RFP #113 on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012.

This is the first such agreement of its kind developed for a Caltrans/Federal Project Developed a First Source Hiring Plan and Community Benefits Package for the Central Subway Project Established a First Source/Equal Opportunity Employment Plan with the Park Merced Developers Continuing to provide employment services to the Transbay Joint Powers Authority to ensure compliance with its First Source Hiring Agreement Assisting the Americas Cup Events Authority in meeting its First Source Hiring Goals. Partnering with Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) to assist Chinese Hospital Rebuild with 25% Local Hiring Goal. Administering 32 Private Developments with Executed First Source MOU with estimated value of $1.86 billion.

Central Market Highlights - Demonstrated a 20% increase in sales tax revenue between Q2 2010 and Q2 2012, reflecting the major gains made in attracting new employers, small businesses, arts establishments, and construction. - Established Epicenter SF, a multineighborhood online events calendar for Central Market area, in partnership with local CBDs and Arts Commission. - Business attraction activities facilitated lease signings & groundbreakings for 4 new retail businesses and 3 new arts venues in 2012.
