Trepaniers Studio Policy This policy is for your child to receive the best teaching I could offer to your child, based on the many years of my teaching experience. Please feel free to ask and share your concerns with me!

1. Preparation for lessons Please make sure your child trim his/her nails, wash his/her hands, wears socks and clean his/her nose just before piano lessons. The lesson will NOT start until your child is ready. To bring: a clean pair of extra socks, fingernail clipper, music book(s) and 1 inch 3ring binder with blank papers in a music bag.

2. Please be ON TIME! Be on time for the pickup/drop-off of your child. Please ensure that your child has safely entered my house before driving away. Please do NOT use door bell. If previous students lesson is still in progress, please wait on the stairs where you take your shoes off. Please plan to arrive a couple of minutes before drop-off and PICKUP your child. No one can take care of your child before and after his/her lesson time.

3. Communication Please check email regularly, and make sure I have a current your email address. You will receive many important informations by email. Our communication is MAINLY through email. Phone call is only for emergency or timely sensitive matters. Please feel free to visit your childs lesson and contact me by email, if you have any question. However, if your question is required a long response, parents-teacher conference meeting should be arranged. If parents request a meeting with a teacher outside of lesson time, there will be a fee as $25 for the first 30 minutes, and $5/5 minute after first 30 minutes.

4. Parents (especially K through 8th grade students) are strongly recommended to visit and observe their childs lesson either partially of or fully of their lesson time. Please plan to visit at least once a month. Please understand that I will teach / speak only to the student, and please do NOT give any comment during lessons. If you have any question or comments, please let me know in the beginning of lesson.

5. Please park in the street, except when you pick up your child. We have a very narrow driveway. Thank you for your help!

6. There will be lessons on a snow day, unless you are informed by me. Usually the roads are cleaned up by afternoon.

7. Attendance It is very important for students to take lessons regularly. Students who are ill should stay at home. Hands are the one of the main causes for transmitting viruses and bacteria. If your child is sick, lesson will be stopped immediately, and you will be asked to pick up your child without any rescheduled lesson. You may swap the lesson times with another family, or give away to siblings or friends. The swapped lesson should be equal/or shorter time of your lesson time. Please notify me, if you swap your lesson. I will also inform you if there is a last minute cancelled lesson. Make up lesson is offered up to 2 missed lessons. Make up lesson(s) is ONLY in the afternoon of Friday and Saturday in our last week. If you missed 2 lessons and you cannot come two different days, your lesson may be twice long on one day. If a lesson is cancelled by me, make-up lesson will be credited or rescheduled.

8. Extra Curriculums - If students participate extra curriculum such as music testing, audition or public performance beside studio recitals, there will be extra fees (approx. $10 ~ $50), depending on the program your child participates.

9. There are 4 mandatory group classes for all students in the grade 1 ~ 8. The groups (minimum 2 students required) will be divided by their ages and levels of their piano studies. The fee is non-refundable $80, and there is no make up for any missed class.

10. Recital There are two recitals in December and May. Parents are expected to bring hors doeuvres for reception. If we rent a hall, there may be a recital fee $5 ~ 15 per student for renting a recital hall and piano tuning. Those students whose piece(s) is/are not in the performance level three weeks prior to the recital will be withdrawn from the recital(s).

Dress for recitals is semi-formal or formal attire. Inappropriately dressed students will not be allowed to perform at recitals, such as flip-flop, dirty sneakers, and shorts /mini skirts.

11. Termination of lesson Most of students will stop taking lessons at one point of their lives. By having a nice closure, hopefully students continue to develop their appreciation to music afterward. The best time to stop the piano lesson would be the end of school year in May/June. However, if you and your child wish to stop taking lessons in the middle of school year, I would really appreciate your notification. Unfortunately, there is no refund of your tuition. It will be used for me to find another student to fill up the lesson spot (hopefully!).

12. Tuition Information Tuition is evenly divided into 3 terms (Fall, Winter, and Spring), regardless the number of lessons in each term.
Lesson Time 60 Minutes 45 minutes Per term (rate) $ 484 ($44) $ 363 ($33) Due Date August 15th for Fall; November 15th for Winter; February 15th for Spring. Late fee is $5/day.
