The above is provided in Kaalavidhanam.
The Gulikodaya is not entirely inauspicious and could be used for following
events.
1)Collection / buying / stocking of cereals, gram etc
2)Massaging with oils & bathing
3)Business activities / trading
4)Opening of eyelids / using kasturi (Also done during Pratishta of idols).
5)Grihyam grahyam a part of the above ritual
6)Dressing
7)Getting freed from debts (pay back)
8)Lighting of fire (sacrificial fire)
9) Use of perfumes / ritual in temples also
10)Taking medicines
11)Getting on Horse & elephants
12)Getting Mantropadesh (initiation of Mantra)
13)Conducting Abhisheka (ritual)
14)Abhichara (Tantric ritual for destruction)
15)Maha daana (giving away as repentance for blemishes / afflictions / wrong
doing etc)
16)Vedaarabha (learning Vedas, starting the recital of Vedas)
It says 20 items could be done during Gulikodaya.
17)Sthaanapa, receiving of Yupa (Sacrificial post)
18)Entering house & tying of elephants etc
19)Entering a new country, Lavana (Salt) teertha.
20) Coronation ceremony of kings.
Though the above is provided, they are not actually followed as such. Most of
the above is related with pratishta karma (consecration of deity) and yagas.
Coronation ceremony is not done during gulokodya. So also house warming etc. It shall
conflict with other Muhurtha theories.
What is to be remembered is India is a diverse country with many customs &
systems, some originating from sources that are not accepted by the learned
scholars and some are region specific. This is true regarding some tantras also.
Just because something is written in Sanskrit, doesn't mean they should be
followed or is accepted by every one.
What could normally be done with regard to day to day life for common man
are
1)Trading
2)Pay back debts
3)Erect the first door of the house
4)Taking medicines for chronic & severe illness particularly related to Visha
Chikitsa.
5)Abhichara, Mantropadesha for such rituals.
6)Taming & putting wild yet tamable animals like elephants, horses in the
stable.
7)Some rituals related with Pratishta (Consecration) & Yagyas.
