PRO6 - LTC Jason Jones

Program. The turnover of leadership across the formation has left numerous holes in our Battery/Company FRGs. We are therefore looking for volunteers who would like to assist in reestablishing this vital program. Your support would be greatly appreciated and will contribute significantly to the overall mission readiness of this Battalion. If interested please talk to your Battery/Company leadership for details.

Greetings to the Troopers, Families and friends of PRO

Let me start of by saying Happy New Year, I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season! The Professionals have started the new year off right with a series of well planned training events designed to get us back to our Artillery core competencies. The Firing Battery gun sections and FDCs have been training hard in preparation for their upcoming section certifications. HHB has been training diligently in order to get the Battalion Tactical Operations Center up and running while Golf Company continued to provide the logistical lifeline for the Battalion. This training will continue over the upcoming months and will serve as the foundation to get us back to what we do best, provide timely and accurate fires in support of our maneuver brothers. In addition to training, the Battalion is currently restructuring its Family Readiness Group (FRG)

Family and friends, we have embarked on another year of this mighty battalions story soon to be engraved in history by these fine Americans. As promised, we have hit the ground running! Airborne operations, with howitzers on platforms for the troopers to jump and assemble on (basically our meat and potatoes) and we will work on marksmanship by getting everyone out to a range to verify their ability to hit the target. In the next couple months we plan to hone the gunnery skills of this battalion along with all the logistics that go along with it, so we can once again regain our lethality. Weekends will always seem too short to get that honey-do list complete, so do your best to just enjoy your time off. PRO has been quite successful in the eyes of the BCT and your Troopers have so much to be proud of! Keep the words of encouragement coming and we will see you on the high ground! Airborne

FRG Meeting : 12 February 2013 (1800 in the BN Classroom)

Happy New Year from the Paratroopers of Hurricane Battery! We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and are ready to hold fast to their New Years resolutions. One resolution that every Paratrooper in the Hurricane Battery should have made was to continue to build on all the great work they accomplished last year and by all accounts they are doing just that. Across the Battery, Paratroopers have trained diligently on honing their individual technical and tactical skills. Key training events included Gunnery University, marksmanship training, drivers training, and combat equipment rigging exercises. The Battery welcomes new FRG leadership this year as Michelle Mawyer assumes the role of FRG leader from the outgoing leader, Nicole Cahill. The Hurricane FRG is one of the strongest in the Battalion and is well postured to support the Battery as it prepares for its intensive training cycle and the spring/Easter season. There will be many opportunities for FRG support during this time and we look forward to the possibilities that lay ahead. Upcoming events include a free barbecue lunch for the Troopers and a fundraiser. 2013 is going to be a fun year and we are glad we are able to share in the fun with all of you. Happy New Year!

On any given day you can go to Pikes Field and see our Howitzer Crew Sections conduct Gunners Training, occupation drills and fire missions. Likewise, our Fire Direction Center Troopers have been participating in FDC University as they regain their technical skills of fire direction. It has been motivating to see the Troopers getting back to their Field Artillery mission and our team is on an excellent glide path to reach our goals. As we move into February we will begin our Section Certifications and begin spending more time in the field conducting Live Fire Exercises. We look forward to the next update and as always, thank you for all you do for us on a daily basis!

FRG Meeting : 28 February 2013 (1800 at Hammond Hills Community Center)

Greetings from Team Grizzly!

Grizzly Family, we are looking forward to starting off this New Year on the right foot. We have a new Command Team that is looking forward to building a more cohesive and motivated team. We recognize that our Paratroopers and their Families sacrifice a lot. These sacrifices often go unrecognized and the new Command Team is seeking to change this.
SSG Downey demonstrates how to rig equipments for Airborne Operations

For this, we need everyones support; after all, it is OUR team. We cannot accomplish any of our goals if the support network behind each of our Paratroopers is not on board. We want you to voice your concerns, opinions, and suggestions as we build up our team. We encourage you to give us the opportunity to share our views and attend our FRG (Family Readiness Group) Meetings. We workout together, we train together, we jump from airplanes together, and we fight together. Therefore, as with anything in life, there is also a time to have fun together. Join us!

FRSA Corner Volunteers Recognition!

Volunteers like to be appreciated for what they do for the FRG. When recognizing an individual, it is important to point out something of important such as the job/task performed, quality of performance, accomplishment, or desirable charter trait or ability. It is a wonderful boost to a volunteers self esteem. Recognition is easy to give, so give it often. Take advantage of the 2nd quarter (January-March) recognition period. Iron Mike awards must be submitted to 82D ABN Div NLT COB 1st Friday of April. Mr. Leon Walden (FRSA) [email protected] 910-396-0956.
