Start of Class: Student teacher survey. Introduction of Lesson: Students will make corrections to their eulogies of their dead words Lesson Instruction: Review vocabulary Assignment Assessments/Checks for Understanding: Read next chapter in novel together stopping to discuss the use of figurative language, imagery and foreshadowing. Closure/Wrap-Up/Review: Assign reading assignment and journal. Self-Assessment: This lesson will be a success if students are able to successfully identify literary elements in their reading and connect them back to the larger meaning of the text.
April 10-12 will be spent working on the Illinois State writing assessment. We will take out about 15 minutes of class time each day to work on our word funerals and discuss the nights reading assignment.
