Bavaraian Wrist Warmers by Lorraine Ehrlinger Size: One Size Finished Measurements: Around Hand: 8 Length: 9-1/2 Materials: Plymouth ENCORE (3.5oz/100g, 220yd/200.2m, 75% acrylic, 25% wool): 1 skein #793 Lt. Blue Size 8 (5mm) dpns, or size needed to obtain correct gauge Place markers Gauge: In Stockinette st, 20 sts & 24 rows = 4/10cm. To save time, take time to check gauge. Pattern Stitch: Double Hourglass - Bavarian Style Notes: ALL KNIT STITCHES ARE WORKED THROUGH THE BACK LOOP (tbl) Back Cross (BC) insert needle from front between first and second stitches and knit the second stitch in the BACK loop; then knit the first stitch in the front loop and slip both stitches from the needle together. Front Cross (FC) skip 1 st and knit the second st in the BACK loop: then knit the skipped st in the BACK loop; then slip both sts from the needle together. Twisted Rib Stitches are only twisted when noted. Rnd 1: *k1 tbl, p1; rep from *. Rnd 2: *k1, p1 tbl; rep from *. Arm Section CO 48 sts. Join, being careful not to twist. Start Thumb (right hand): Inc by lifting 1 st at beg of second needle. Knit to end of rnd. K one rnd, working pat on needle 1. Rnd 3: Work pat on needle 1. Lift 1 st before and after the first thumb st. K to end of rnd. K one rnd as above. Cont inc and work even until there are 19 thumb sts. After working even, put the thumb sts on a holder. Next rnd pick up/CO 2 sts at thumb opening. Cont working hand in pat and St st for 1 more pat rep. (12 rnds). Work Twisted Rib for 3 rnds, BO on the fourth rnd. Pick up thumb sts + 1 st. Work 3 rnds Twisted Rib, BO on the fourth rnd. Thumb incs for left hand are worked at the end of needle 3, in the same manner as above. Finishing Weave in ends, using the yarn tail to close any hole you find at the thumb join.
