The Moon
The Moon is the Earths natural satellite. It may be the remains of a Mars-sized planet that collided with the early Earth as it was forming:
The iron cores of the two planets merged. Less dense material was ejected by the collision. The less dense material merged to form the Moon.
Cartoon
Picture 1 early solar system had more planets than the 8 (9) we have now
Picture 2 the earth and another planet collided, nearly destroying both planets
Picture 3 the molten rock became concentrated into the earths core, the less dense rock formed the moon
Picture 4 the moon was much closer to Earth and so slowed the rotation of it and the Earth
Picture 5 over time the moon is moving away from Earth and increasing the radius of its orbit
1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
The Earth has an iron core but the Moon does not
Moon rocks are similar in composition to rocks found on Earth Differences in the density of the Earth and Moon No iron at all on the Moon Moon has exactly the same oxygen composition (in rocks) than the Earth

The SUN is a source of IONISING radiation. Clouds of CHARGED particles can be EJECTED from the Sun at high speed. These solar FLARES produce strong magnetic fields which interact with the Earths own MAGNETIC field. Although they only last for about 10 MINUTES, they can disrupt SATELLITE communications and cause ELECTRICITY blackouts on EARTH.
