What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?
Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.
What are color families?
The Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks are designed in color families. Each color family has four individual colors numbered 1 through 4 (1 being the lightest shade in the group and 4 being the darkest shade of the group). Color families are an extremely important aspect of layered stamping because each of the four colors coordinates together to achieve a dimensional, layered look. Every Hybrid Ink Pad has the color family name and the color family number clearly labeled on the lid along with the name of the ink pad and the ink shade. NOTE: The 1 color for some color families is designed to be an incredibly light whisper of a shade for that group.

I love this product line. I'm kind of new to stamping and sometimes I've not been happy with the outcome of some inks. This is what I've been looking for. The colors remain bright when they dry, and there is minimal bleed as well. For me, this is what I'm looking for - a nice, solid, colorful ink.
Trying to find the right yellow shade can be hard with certain projects, animals or flowers. I found these are not too bright and not so dull, but give a life like color quality. I do not feel like they give a "crazy" vibe to my projects when I want a life-like color. These are great shades. Pads are inked well. Great for my stamped images, crisp and clear, and works well with my blending brushes. Fast color!
These inks are beautifully vibrant, and easy to use. I love the colors and the shape of the pads. They dry pretty fast though so aren't really great for heat embossing, but they don't smudge when you use a wettish medium over them either.
I'm getting back into card making after a 10 year break. I'm starting fresh with all new supplies. I spent weeks trying to learn all I could about all the new inks: dye, pigment, distress, oxide, and hybrid. I chose these. I'm so glad I did! First, they blend wonderfully. Second, I love the color groups. I know if I want a pastel I go for #1, etc. Third, I love the new layering stamps (I can't color worth a darn) and love that I can grab my yellow group and 1, 2, 3, 4 I've got an amazing flower! Fourth, I only have to stamp once to get a good, solid impression. Fifth, the oval shape (and the fact you can snap the lid on the base as a handle when inking) is a perfect fit for my hand. I do not work for the company. I paid for my supplies. I'm just a hobbyist who wants to share how much I like these inks!
I used several of these inks in making a card and I was disappointed at their lack of blending on card stock. I will not be ordering Scrapbook. inc ink pads or ink in other colors. I wish this had worked out.

I love these inks! I recently purchased the collection of yellow. All the yellows are beautiful. All colors can be daunting for me to coordinate on a layering project. These color collections will be great for layering. The yellows are true yellows, nothing off in color. The color family is titled with the color name and a number to show light to dark, 1, 2, 3, 4, with 1 being lightest. A great help. The case snaps together to let you know that the case is properly closed. Cases are not difficult to open once you get the hang of it. Finger placement grips along the sides of the container are very helpful, too. Upon opening, the ink pads are very juicy. I admit I did not expect the juicy pads. I purchased the refillers, too, just in case. My project at the time I purchased the ink pads entailed a great deal of blending. Smooth and easy is the best way I can describe how even my blending. I had no problems blending with this ink. I did not need to use the refillers because the ink pads proved to be very sufficient with the ink that is already there. I had 30 cards to complete and had no problems. I have many different inks, but I am loving Scrapbook.com Hybrid Ink Collection. I need to and will be purchasing more color collections. I did not need to stamp with the inks I bought for my project. But I will stamp with the next groups of colors I buy. Both ink pads and refillers are reasonably priced for a collection of four colors in the same color family. I like the idea that I do not need to put colors together to make the perfect colors for layering or anything else I put my mind to do. As I have stated before, I love these inks.
