#ripkobebryant When I saw that Kobe Bryant had died on a plane today I hoped it was an internet hoax. But then when certified sources said the same thing my heart dropped. Not too long after I read about his thirteen year old daughter being on that same plane and my heart sunk. Big juicy tears formed and ran down my cheeks as I prayed for their surviving family. Death sucks. It is sneaky and doesnt even announces its arrival. It crushes the plans we make and ruins our dreams. And yet this is ou
This quote is pulled from a sermon that pastor Charles Spurgeon had written called Hearts-ease. I first ran across this quote around the time of my Dads passing. It was true then and its still true now. #charlesspurgeon #quotes #bedeeplyrooted #wellwateredwomen #instagramforchrist
When I try I fail. When I trust He succeeds. Corrie Ten Boom I chose to pick a quote about faith but what is really circling in my mind is contentment. Its so easy it is for me to imagine that different circumstances more of this or less of that or a life without trials would somehow make me content or satisfied. Ive been reading through the book of Ecclesiastes and admittedly when I read in the past the book seemed sad and morose. But lately I see its not as if Solomon painted life darkly ra
Then I will go to the altar of God to God my exceeding 𝙹𝙾𝚈 and I will praise you with the lyre. O God my God. Psalm 43:4 This is a verse that prompts me to ask myself "Is God my exceeding joy?" Then it prompts me to pray because I know the answer to that question. I don't believe this verse exists to discourage the children of God but to prompt us to wonder. Wonder that God could be our exceeding joy. Wonder that idolatry could be apart of our past and not our present. I do believe this ve
At the start of this year I made a resolution to the end that I would not necessarily read through the Bible in a year but rather that I would read the Bible everyday. Well I haven't exactly kept that resolution as to date. . . . It seems as if it has only gotten tougher to be disciplined with reading the Bible. That may not be the case as sometimes I tend to idealize the past. I just remember it being more of a joy than a duty. It still was a deep desire in my heart to read the Bible even when

Afterward Samuel took a stone and set it upright between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer explaining The Lord has helped us to this point. 1 Samuel 7:12 HCSB . My anxiety is due to the fall of man and is due to sin entering the world (Gen 3). But truly I just plain forget that God is my Helper (Psalm 54:4). Truly at times it seems as if everything is up to me and on me. And yet the burden of sustaining and carrying us is solely the responsibility of our Creator. . Join me in intentionally m
ℕ𝕖𝕨 𝕓𝕝𝕠𝕘 𝕡𝕠𝕤𝕥 Im so excited to share this blog post with you all! Ive never had a true passion in my life until I became a Christian. In other words God gave me this passion for the Bible. I want everyone to know about Him and to hear what He has to say about things. The link is in the bio!!
Will you join me? We live in a world where people are constantly anxious about what they could possibly be missing out on. It keeps some glued to their phones and some restlessly waiting to be included on whatever they feel they are lacking. What we get shoved down our throats is that we need more faster better and even something different. That something more fulfilling is right around the corner. Most people believe that what they are missing is something they can buy someone they can meet or perhaps a new environment will do the job. But what people are truly missing out on is a relationship with the God of the universe. And that relationship can only come through Jesus Christ. People believe that something created can actually fill the void in their lives. But only Christ can. He is a full God for empty sinners like us. And for those who know Him as their Lord and Savior there is nothing for them to miss out on. We have endless life and a far better county being prepared by our Father. God is the only true treasure among all these cubic zirconias. Christians cant stop talking about Him because of all Hes done for their souls (Psalm 66:16).
I found this quote in a precious little book by the name of The Valley of Vision. Its a book of prayers that has been collected along a few centuries. Im usually not a fan of praying prayers that others have written. In fact at first I put this book down because of that same reason. But this book is more of a devotional than anything else. Every prayer Ive prayed or simply read has increased my devotional life and has stirred me up to pursue holiness. Ill be sure to share the full prayer in my IG story. Or you can look on the internet for this prayer its called Shortcomings.
𝙽𝚎𝚠 𝚋𝚕𝚘𝚐 𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚝 (Link in my bio) In this blog post Im sharing A Better Way To Be Encouraged. Some look to new-age theories and self-love tips to give them courage. But I would argue all that we truly need to do in order to be encouraged is to behold God. And there is no better way to behold this God than to read about Him in Scriptures. Fresh courage is put on not by looking to ourselves but by looking at God. It is not when we love ourselves first that are lives are well ordered and truly blessed. But its when we love Him first that our lives and steps are well ordered and blessed. When I look to myself I am bound to be faint withering and despondent. But when I look to God then and only then is my face radiant(Psalm 34:5). When I turn to Him my sorrow is turned into joy(Psalm 30:11). When I behold Him then I feel His grace fueling my endurance. If you look at the world youll be DISTRESSED If you look within youll be DEPRESSED If you look at God youll be AT REST. -Corrie Ten Boom
Discouragement is a tool of the Devil. If our Savior and the Author and Finisher of our faith tells us to take heart or to be of good cheer why do we believe Satans lies that say there is no hope? Why is it that those who have been born to a living hope can be so easily convinced that there is no hope? No hope in their marriage. No hope in God continuing the good work that He begun (Phil. 1:6)? Why does quitting look like a viable option? Why does running from our amazing Benefactor make any sense at all? Believe me I am preaching to myself as well. Recently the Adversary whispered in my hearing a few lies that I believed. I didnt hold the lies up to Gods word. I didnt wrestle to believe in Gods truth. I took Satans lies as the gospel and never doubted that they were not the truth. None of us are walking through a flowery field we are in the battle for our lives. Not for our salvation Christ has already finished His works. But we are in the fight of our lives against sin and darkness. We are in the fight of our lives for our satisfaction in Christ. Not only on the outside is their warfare going on but also on the inside. Our flesh opposes what the Spirit desires and the Spirit opposes the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:17). I know just how the idea of warfare can in itself seem discouraging. But Christ has won the victory. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under all of the saints feet (Rom. 16:20). Dont stop following Christ. Dont give into those passions of the flesh which wage war against your soul (1 Peter 2:11). Dont quit being faithful to whatever God has called you to. Dont give up on your ministry. Dont walk out on your marriage. God is able to do far more abundantly. than all we think or ask (Eph. 3:20). Dont forget about Gods great and precious promises (2 Pet 1:4). Dont forget about the crown(s) while you bear the cross. Dont miss out on what God purposes to do through and in your life. And lastly dont be too proud to ask God for help. Hasnt He drawn you from every pit you have fallen into? Be encouraged saints Christ has won it all.
𝙷𝚘𝚠 𝙳𝚘 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚙𝚘𝚗𝚍 𝚃𝚘 𝚃𝚛𝚒𝚊𝚕𝚜? link in my bio Ive written a few words about my own responses to trials and how Job responded to suffering. In my daydreams I dont want trials to shake the foundations of what I believe about God. But when it comes down to trials or suffering what really matters is that you cling to God. I think what God is most importantly teaching me is that its okay to wrestle and struggle with faith. And that my faith isnt puny but rather He is teaching
