Stephanie Czajkowski | DIY + home on Instagram: "It’s done!!! 🥹✨ Absolutely my most favorite project ever - this oak wrapped kitchen island is exactly what I had envisioned, to bring warmth and dimension into this space. I started by trimming out the top, bottom and sides with 1x4 pieces of white oak. Then added in the red oak fluted panels from @weaberlumber #ad The trickiest part was getting the two woods to match each other. I used a combination of 4 stains to get them to resemble one another. I have an entire reel on this. There were quite a few obstacles I had to overcome on this project, including a floating slab or granite which I shimmed. We used to have our table in the centre of the room and it always worked well, but my goodness, I have been under estimating the huge impact an island can have on a space! All-in, this island cost us just under £400 to make and it is just so perfect to us. (I’ll pop some stories slides up showing the process).
