Visiting Dress with Jacket, by Au Bon Marché / M.A. Boucicaut, Paris, 1908-11, Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens. Late Edwardian dress of peach colored silk linen with a high lace collar and matching jacket. Silk taffeta rope cording, covered wooden buttons, crocheted cotton thread, and gold thread embroidery. Tubular sleeves (dress and jacket). Covered wood buttons and trim elaborately repeated on the jacket. Sides of the jacket embellished with lattice work and hanging covered wood tassels.
1860-1861 Dress
Dress 1860-1861 - beautiful peach silk. The scale of it is perfect for the 1860s, when trimmings occupied a large portion of the expansive skirts. The bertha & sleeves gracefully complement the dress. The bodice has a shallow, wide scooped neckline, that reaches from shoulder to shoulder. Short sleeves, covered in scalloped trim peak out.
