Japanese traditional architecture, Irimoya-zukuri
Irimoya-zukuri is a combination between the hipped and the gable roofs, combining the advantages of both types. The hipped roof gives stability to the building and it is often used in places with strong winds, while the gable roof is recommended in areas with heavy snow. #water #cherryblossoms #japaneseinspiredhomes
Japanese Woodwork Inspiration
Last Monday we posted a few wonderful pieces of Japanese architecture that we discovered during our trips to Japan. These constructions were a big inspiration for us. Today we wanted to share more examples, focussing on traditional Japanese woodwork and the techniques that shaped them. Please enjoy these pictures!
