Grace ✨ Home + DIY Furniture on Instagram: "What is color washing? A color wash is a great way to imitate the look of stain. It’s also a great technique for layering paint! Basically, a color wash offers a nice subtle look by diluting your paint. The most common color wash you’ll see is a white wash, which can help mute orange tones in wood. However, you can make a wash with any color! Some of my favorites are: A black wash which can offer a nice aged look when applied to bare wood. A slight green wash which can neutralize some of the reddest of bare woods. A tan/brown wash which can mimic the look of a customized stain on bare wood. A color wash isn’t only applied to bare wood. You can also apply a color wash on top of a previous painted surface to add more variance and contrast t
