One Coronation Street actor confessed they thought their character was about to be killed off on the ITV soap recently.
After finding out a shocking new storying for the character, the cast member playing them was left convinced it meant the end of the road for their soap alter ego. But this doesn't seem to be the case, amid the plot kicking off on Friday night.
Kit Green actor Jacob Roberts told The Mirror and other press that he feared an exit was on the way, after uncovering Kit's fling with Shona Platt. Convinced it could see David Platt take revenge, Jacob admitted he was very surprised by the detective's latest storyline.
Calling it "out of the blue", he hinted David could go after Kit if he finds out. But he's hoping it doesn't mean the end for his character, as he teased where the new plot would lead.
Jacob told us: "Yeah, I thought that fling might have gotten me killed off! If David's coming after me, he’s coming after me! But yeah, it's been good because I didn't realise when it would come out or if it would just be kept secret."
He added on hearing of the plot: "It was out of the blue. We had the interview scenes. And Kit felt for Shona because of how she explained the story about David. We [don't] see that, but [Shona told Kit] a bit about the situation.
"So, he feels sorry for Shona. You don't see any flirting in the scenes beforehand. So, it comes out of nowhere, and then he's just gone. Also, I think something happened with him and Daisy at the time, and he's gone, ‘do you know what? I’m not having that,’ and he's just done his own thing.
"Plus, he's not stupid. He knows that Daisy's got history with Ryan or Daniel, so he sees that. He’s a detective, so he can see certain things. So, yeah, she's not so innocent. So, he thought he could get away with something."
Jacob also teased whether the truth would come out, and whether it might happen again. He spilled: "I don't think he does [think David will find out]. I think he thinks he can get away with it.
"He knows that she won't tell David, so if she doesn’t tell David, he's in the clear. He thinks that way, yeah. The second time happens and that’s when it gets interesting, doesn’t it."
