Jordan North admitted he was speechless over his mum's decision to bring the ashes of the late family dog to his brother's wedding.
Speaking on Thursday's Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Kemi Rodgers, Jordan explained: "I just don't know where to begin. I try not to laugh, but if you do, I won't fall out. So a couple of months ago, sadly, our family pet dog Frank died. And you'll know if you have a dog how attached? We got 15 years and he had a really good life.
"We just love them to bits. Okay. It was traumatic from the start, and this is why I think my mom's still not quite over it. She messaged in the family Whatsapp group yesterday. I think she's losing the plot… I really do. And she's basically brought Franks ashes over from Spain. On a plane.
"How she smuggled his ashes on a plane? I do not know. But that's a question for another day. She messaged in the WhatsApp group a picture of the end and said, 'Just to let you know, Frank is going to be with us tomorrow at the wedding.'"
He continued: "It gets worse. She wants my brother to walk down the aisle with his ashes. I've never seen this at a wedding. She wants me as the master of ceremonies, to bring the dog in, presenting to everyone and put him on the top table with the bride and groom. And then she said we can take it in turns to pass him around. And he can be with us at the table."
Jordan's co-host Chris asked whether the radio presenter and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! winner's mum wants the urn to be in the wedding photos. "Yes, I think she wants the urn in the wedding photos. This is not normal behaviour…," he replied.
Jordan took over as host on Capital Breakfast from Roman Kemp earlier this year after a career at the BBC. Addressing his exit from the Beeb, Jordan explained why he decided to walk away from his role at Radio 1.
"I wasn't looking to leave but then this opportunity came up and you don't turn Capital down," he told The Sun. He went on to add: "I know that sounds corny but it's a massive breakfast show. I told three people, because I had to keep it quiet, and they all said, 'Go for it'."
Jordan shut down claims of an alleged feud between him and his former colleagues at the license-payer-funded corporation, revealing he has "loads of good friends there" and his pals even messaged him before his first Capital Breakfast programme.
