Carol Vorderman says the secret of her amazing body is intermittent fasting and "good bras". The TV star wants to get back to what she calls a Size 9 (a small size 10) after some time away from the gym promoting her book Now What? On a Mission To Fix Broken Britain.

Carol said: "I don't give a toss about what people say about how I look. I'm not happy with my body now. My bum has dropped. I'm at the upper end of my weight. "I haven't been to the gym for months because of the book and because I have had a knee issue which has been giving me problems. "Basically the oil around the joints went, so I've had two hyaluronic acid injections. The first one didn't work but the second one did." Asked for her health and fitness secrets she added: "I wear a good bra and jeans that hold you up. I generally have one meal a day - late afternoon - and I do three 45 minute sessions in the gym a week, which I love. Lots of squats for the bum." She also said she snacks on raw sprouts and "generally carry a bag with me".

Carol told Saga magazine she is heading back to the gym soon aiming to get back into shape. At 63 she is now described in the interview as a 'rebel with a cause' having now taken on less TV roles in favour of pushing for truth and justice in politics.

Her new book speaks about how and why she has become a one woman anti-corruption crusader calling out liars and charlatans in the British Establishment. She added: "I know who I am, I know what I stand for and I know what makes me happy. I'm also old enough to not care about what anyone else thinks of me.

"I don't believe in regrets or use the word failure. I think of life in chapters. One closes, another opens." Carol lives in Bristol with her 27-year-old son Cameron and says at the moment she is happy on her own and "happy with my life" with no need for a partner. She has also spoken in the past about her intermittent fasting on social media. In 2022 she said: "So I'm doing this intermittent fasting thing. I've gone 20 hours without food, not felt a little bit hungry and I'm now having proper bacon - not the rubbish kind - and fresh, fresh, local eggs, everything local and I can't wait.

Intermittent fasting works when you prolong the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat, helping you to lose weight.

The former Countdown star is also a big fan of detoxing twice a year which reduces inflammation, purifies your blood, boosts your blood circulation and helps with weight loss. Carol previously wrote in her book, Detox Your Life, that she doesn't count calories.

She wrote: "The detox is not about counting calories or fat units, it's about being aware of the kinds of foods we put into our bodies. It's about eating more, not less." In August she used a speech at the Edinburgh TV festival to criticise the lack of working class people in television. She said it was an "industry dominated by nepotism, run by the upper middle class".
