The Nintendo UNO cards

Nintendo UNO is a variant of the card game UNO with twists and aesthetics of the Super Mario franchise, even though the title may suggest it is about Nintendo series in general. The game was released in 2004 by Sababa Toys.[citation needed] While the rules and card types are mostly the same from a normal deck, the cards contain artwork of various characters from the Super Mario universe. One additional card type known as a "Power card" is also added to this deck.

Cards[edit]

There is a total of 112 cards in the set. 108 of the cards are the same as those found in a standard UNO deck, with the remaining four being Power cards.

The Power card

The Power card is an exclusive card to this deck. Players can play this card to make them "invincible" to any Draw 2 or Draw 4 cards played against them, nullifying the effects of those cards. After the Power card has been played, the player who put it down must decide what color the next card should be. If played any other time, it acts as a Wild card. This card is worth 50 points if it is in another player's hand at the end of the game.

Trivia[edit]

  • With the exception of Luigi and Boolossus, all of the character artwork seen on the cards is from Nintendo 64 games instead of Nintendo GameCube games, the latter console being Nintendo's most recent one at the time.
