Black Adam (2022)
Expectation fulfilled!
Last two year I missed a good action packed superhero movie! Yeah, some of them were good but not fulfilled my expectation. Batman was better, but Matt's Batman is unique on it's way, a dark and realistic version of year one Batman. All I wanted a serious, brutal and colourful hardcore Planetary level superhero movie, And at last I found it on "Black Adam".
I am not stating it as a masterpiece. But it is good in its genre. Though it is full of underdeveloped characters it is not the standalone movie either so We will know much about JSA in future. This is just the phase 1 of DCEU. Hope many good things are waiting for fans!
And Thanks to Dwayne Johnson , He tried his best to set up this broken universe. A true fan I think!
Punorjonmo 3 (2022)
Expected more from it!
Hats off to Vickey Zahed, who created this complex psycho thriller universe which is completely new in Bengali Silver world. And He connected his Punorjonmo and Shuklopokkho very much strongly.
If you want to watch this third chapter of Punorjonmo, it is highly recommend that watch Shukloopokkho too.
The thrilling and story building was really good, but there are some goofy ugly plot holes too. And Vickey Zahed should know that every time finale twist is not something which will wash away every faults of a creation.
In my opinion Punorjonmo 1 > Punorjonmo 2 > Punorjonmo 3 > Shulkopokkho
Anyway, Vickey Zahed mixed more ingredients than it's previous part. And Nisho did it amazingly. Some years ago he was like the chocolate boy of Bengali Drama industry but now he already proved He can do much more than that.
Apart some mistakes, Vickey tried to do something unique, maybe in future He will gain more experience from these works. And will do much better.
Anyway thanks to our Nisho AKA Rafsan Haq the mistakes become blur . He is like our Hannibal Lecter! Hehe. I felt same vibe, ideology, Cruelty and intelligent Psychopath traits are common in them!
Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 - Agni Pariksha (2022)
Expected a little bit more from it!
When I first noticed about this Chapter 2 of Khuda haafiz, I was like "OMG" , now this is becoming like Taken series! But it was more like John wick Indian version. Hehe . Anyway , the motivation for Samir and his actions were totally realistic in his first chapter of film series but second part was like suddenly by magically he become a John wick from a common man! Those brutal fight scenes were really awesome for an indian movie just like it's first chapter.
I expected a little bit thriller type suspense from it. But sadly this film didn't focused on that part but as a simple action film , it fulfilled it's purpose.
Khoj, the Search (2010)
A revolution but failed one!
This film was made in 2010, about 12 years from now. At that time I was in grade 6. I did watch this film on my computer, DVD was popular then, internet was not so common among general people. And that film was typically a new experience for a young watcher like me, many foreign area, foreign actor/actress, some spicy action and also Habib's "Etodin Kothay chilo" was phenomenal that time. It was a kind of revolution for Bengali film, it introduced how a high budget movie could create different effect than typical Bengali low budget action film. Anyway the acting of Lead Zalil and his female counterpart Barsha is horrible in here. And the dialogue delivery is also bad.
I think If he had given another actor a chance, this movie would have been a good movie for bengali film industry.
Mission Extreme (2021)
Total Trash!
The hype it created before two years ago was like "THIS IS A FLIM THAT WILL CHANGE THE INDUSTRY". But the thing I got was very much worst type of disappointment. The ending scene of this movie is indicating a second part. But why someone watch the second part , IF the first part was nothing but a TYPICAL FACEBOOK WRITER's SUSPENSUFUL STORY?
SHUVO's transformation and Oyshee's cuteness were the two good factor to kill my time , else was a "BIG ZERO" .
Frequency (2000)
Sometimes all we need is a Heartwarming ending!
Sometimes life is just a journey with full of irreversible losses and pains. I think when you loose someone that you love so much, we put faith into our higher power that we will see them again. What if you could lucky enough to at least contact with them ?
It's unashamedly tugs at the heartstrings at its conclusion which some may find too fantastical, but the emotion is genuine & who isn't hoping for a happy ending for an essentially feel good movie. We can all use a little fantasy in our lives even if its on a movie screen. Kudos to all involved, especially Quaid & Caviezal, in this fantastical, heartwarming film of true wish fulfillment, murder solving & especially the loving bond between fathers & son
It's Ending is So Satisfying, At the End it Gives You The Feeling Of 'Watched Something Great' That Intense Starts At The First Minute of The Movie And It Never Goes Down.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could change the bad things in our lives especially re those we love with the help of an aurora borealis & an old cb radio? That's what this fantasy film about a loving father & son.
Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
It could be Great, but instead it was like a UNPLANNED Creation!
This movie describes about the life of Moses who is one of the greatest prophet in all Abrahamic religion. This plot was interesting, and also it's visual effect, set, cinematography were really good . Christian Bale was great in this movie, I think he was the perfect choice for this role.
But the movie lacked a proper depth in storyline. I don't understand why the Biblical account wasn't followed. God in this movie is a Kid. But in the Torah says God is not man nor son of a man. There is plenty of Room for some artistic license without adding an angry child god and taking out essentials like Aaron's rod and Moses' actual belief in and respect for God.
Leviafan (2014)
That's what life is!
Life seems sometimes like nothing more than a series of losses, from beginning to end. That's the given.
This movie introduced me about a deep dark cave of our life. A full sad changing of our life.
Say you have a beautiful wife, a beautiful view from your living room, a clean life and conscience, no power and an empty account. You will end up like a whale on sand, big and impressive, but waiting to die. All you have left are your own tears.
The ending was one of the best aspect of this film but it wasn't wrapped up neatly and packaged for our pleasure.
Tenki no ko (2019)
Worth watching!
The movie is mesmerizing in many way, the rain looks as stunning. Makoto Shinkai sure knows how to make rain look pretty. I really loved the way he delivered the exposition scenes in the movie, it was really smart the way he did it and it was required because i don't think many people know about Weathering controlling Japanese mythology, even I didn't knew about it. The movie is very different and there is one thing I really loved about this movie is it makes feel that you are in that weather. When there was a sunshine, even though I watched this movie at night, it felt like i am watching it in a day.
Actually, it was overall a good movie I think! The animation was breathtaking and the music was so beautiful! But, the story was sort of predictable, and it kinda lowered my expectations for the movie. Either way, it is an amazing movie worth watching!
Zashchitniki (2017)
Unique at it's own way!
If we look over it , the story plot is not so bad for a superhero movie and just as perfect as any superhero movie should be like (pretty straight forward thou) . However, the story is at loose ends at a lot of places. It's solely because of poor direction and cinematography. Action and CGI are great but screenplay could have been better written and the superheroes should have had better character stories than just being used for fight sequences alone.
Keep in mind this is a completely original concept. It was a low budget movie, so they could've easily avoided showing a bear firing gatling guns from its back, or the way Khan fought (he was pretty badass). But they chose to show it all.
Most of people hated it but I did enjoy seeing Russian superheroes, I'd love to watch a sequel. A lot of the fight scenes were marvel level which I enjoyed. It's not fair to compare this movie to the Avengers or Zack snyder's justice league simply because it comes from directors and writers who are from a totally different country. The superheroes were unique and very interesting. It feels like some of their backstories were just crammed in there to explain some things and it was done poorly because it had nothing to do with the plot.
Conclusion: It's a super ambitious movie with poor character development. It's your wish to watch this movie, just don't keep high hopes from it.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021)
Not disappointed!
A good prequel for Netflix's TV serial "The witcher" . Nightmare of the Wolf doesn't just tell a new story in this rich universe. It introduces viewers to a character who's about to become a huge deal in The Witcher series. But it glued my eyes on screen every seconds of it's runtime. And the last introducing scene of bald Geralt of rivia was awesome.
This movie focused on a interesting thing about witchers, The guild is same but every witcher is different by personality or idealism from one another. Whatevery at the end of they day we all love to sing for every witcher a particular song,
" Toss a coin to your witcher,
O valley of plenty, O valley of plenty...... "
Goopy Bagha Phire Elo (1991)
Wow!
I expected more but it was great too. Mind refreshing ending of great goopy bagha triology!
Mr. Bangladesh (2018)
Expected more!
As an original story, it was good as a desi film but in many scene acting and dialogue delivery were terrible. I expected more from this flim.
Sucker Punch (2011)
Tasteless!
It's literally took me two years to completely watch this movie. Those VFX, Action scenes were not so bad . But if you look in burger's inside, totally tasteless and meaningless.
Jodaeiye Nader az Simin (2011)
Just Wow!
Wow! Foreign language film or not, this is just an excellent, excellent drama. You can't get a more Oscar worthy material than this. To me what makes A SEPARATION unique is that writer/director Asghar Farhadi takes conflict, secrets, relationships and other elements that we're familiar with and mixes them with the culture, religion and gender elements from that specific region. This film, to a certain extent, lets you in on how the justice system works in a place where some of us may be ignorant about. And it's really not about our way is better than theirs or vice versa, it's just how different some things are done.
And this is not just about a divorce or a separation of two individuals The film starts out that way and it ends on that note as well but what happens in between is more of a spin-off story or it stems from when the lead characters Nader and Simin stop being on the same page. A SEPARATION is a very dialogue-driven, a very character driven story, all the actors in this film are marvelous. When the tension is high, they're extremely convincing, I couldn't take my eyes off any of them, especially lead actress Leila Hatami who holds a certain photogenic beauty.
The other thing I liked about this movie is it's ending . This is the perfect ending the audience could ask for. Initially it starts off leading us to believe the mother is the one leaving the family and the father is the epitome of goodness and decency. The red hair, the cigarette, etc make us establish the mother as a modern woman who would jump ship to survive but the father is a man in the past and would rather die with honor. Later it is beautifully unfolded how there is fault in him too when he lies(I believe, under oath) and Termeh's respect for him diminishes. Its perfectly logical, he is a human too. Everyone in the movie has their own share of faults. There wasn't actually A separation, there were many separations- mother and child, father and child , etc. In the end both the parents were essentially wolves fighting each other, trying to win their prey (Termeh). None was ready to compromise. In this separation, Termeh didn't lose one of her parents but both...
Demolition (2015)
Calm but deep!
Don't know why it is so underrated. I enjoyed every second of it . I think that was one of the best performance of Jake Gyllenhal ever did . This movie is also very much relatable for me and it was like a sea wave , peaceful and calm but very deep.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Reality is sometimes disappointing!
In Catholic Church, Requiem is the prayer that is offered to the deceased persons, using a particular form of the Roman Missal.
"Requiem for a dream" is about the lengths people go to escape their reality, and that, when you escape that reality, you create a hole in your present, because you're not there.
City Lights (1931)
That's what love is!
This movie defined the actual love . Love is not a "Give and take" thing . You can only call yourself lover when you can love someone without any hope to gain anything. Tramp went too far for this poor flower girl not for any return . It is also remarkable for me because of it's silent beauty , It proves a interesting thing which is for expressing art you don't have to be loud or you don't need deep dialogues , but all you need to express the feelings that is common for all human being. This movie glued me on screen every bit , and the ending was one of the perfect ending I ever watch .
I am not a regular romance genre fan but this movie placed itself in a totally different level of beauty for me .
Mohammad Rasoolollah (2015)
Emotional!
This movie is about the early age of Islamic prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon him) . It describes about political and social culture of that time . The main thing I liked in this movie is unbiased script . Many Sunni scholar and general people objected about this movie and the main thing bother them is this movie is made by Shia Iran and they objected that this is biased and Muhammad's (peace be upon him) character should not be played by any actor. But I can assure you , this is not biased by any Shia or Sunni belief and revised version of this film is not shown any face of Muhammad (peace be upon him) . So any person who want to watch a visual representation of Islamic early period is welcome to watch this movie .
As I know the script was historically accurate and the movie set was good , and actors who played holy characters of Islamic early period were did great .
Tomorrow (2019)
Surprised!
It contained a very good message . Overall astonishing VFX and inspiring for every climate warrior. As a Bangladeshi animation content it was world class .
It is our world . We have to save our Earth chan .
Journey to Mecca (2009)
Something new!
Many people complained about focusing more about Mecca than journey itself. But this movie is created from Ibne Battuta's journal, So it is acceptable because it was Ibne Batutta's view about Mecca and religion .
Allover , it was a peaceful medieval journey for me . This movie also expressed about the hardship of the traveller in those days . I always wanted to view a documentary or movie about this legendary traveller , It created a opportunity for know his first step .
Kedi (2016)
Touching!
In Turkish/Ottoman Turkish, 'Kedi' or 'Pisi' means cat . So this is not about human story , this is about stories of cat . Usually , Cat is the most loving animal beside Dog . They grow up with us in many different cities . Even the most populous city of Europe , Istanbul is also incomplete without those sweet "Meaaw" sound . This documentary is about those sweet resident of Istanbul , who living there thousands of year . They witnessed the catholics , Orthodox , Muslim . They witnessed the fall of Constantinople , they saw many disasters , success of empire and many things together with human . But one thing common , they loved by everyone !
This documentary shows about the bonding between different types of cat and human . It shows about their love , trust , affection , personality everything . And it was so mind refreshing for me !
"A CAT MEOWING AT YOUR FEET, LOOKING UP AT YOU, IS LIFE SMILING AT YOU..."
Extra: In Islamic culture , loving animal is a very good habit , and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) himself promoted about the bonding between human and animal . This culture should be flourish in every corner of this world , we should not be cruel to any innocent sweet creation of Almighty .
Alpha (2018)
Made me emotional!
Somehow, It was an interesting pre-historic adventure for me. From my perspective it was totally a different kind of movie. I fell in love with it from the beginning. Slow but incredibly touching with such a deep perspective to life and loyalty.
It shows us love between animal & human . It shows us how our ancestor's tragic and difficult life . And also describe how a single bond between nature and human life can change entire human history!
Big Fish (2003)
Changed my view about life!
Don't know how to describe it . But I realized something from this movie which is , "Life creates story and also stories create our own life" . What is your life ? A bunch of good or bad story . People of our life are not usually constant but stories remain intact decades and more .
I loved how the characters are well described in this movie! Every character had a meaning in the movie, everyone from the friendly giant to the twins to the witch to the big fish!
Headshot (2016)
It's Okay Action Movie
All over the story was good and conceptual . And there is some kind of Action Thriller vibe too . And the hero was too good to stop ! Those stunts were good . Violence , better stunts , thrilling story . All over it is OKAY ACTION MOVIE.
