Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Lots of whining about a key.
All the ingredients for an action movie are there: chases, explosions, guns and some familiar hot spots. But now also endless whining about a key and an artificial intelligence in a submarine. This "entity" is described as supreme, but throughout the film remains little more than an abstract animation on some screens. It is not the supercomputer from Terminator 2. Characters are not given time to show the audience who they are. The viewer certainly does not have to think with this film, the storyline and characters are prefaced the entire time by the monologues of one of the omniscient actors. This movie is a heck of a long sit. Rarely did I find myself in the theater wishing the movie had ended.
Je suis Karl (2021)
a massive movement consisting of some hooligans
The film is highly implausible. Whether this is due to a lazy screenwriter or too small a budget? Probably both. At no point does the so-called gigantic nationalist movement transcend the small rooms or its own ranks. There is talk of sympathizers within the army, we don't get to see them either. The first half of the film wants to convince the viewer that we are dealing with an innovative movement. But then, an hour into the film, suddenly the story takes a turn. It seems as if the audience has to believe ah they are nazis after all... yes of course.
The movement gains momentum. We never get to see the large crowds of sympathizers. 60% of all eligible voters? Where are they.
Then suddenly after the murder, the viewer is led to believe that there is an outbreak of violence on a European scale. Coordinated and leading to a continent-wide coup?
A feleségem története (2021)
The grass is green where you pour water
A loyal captain wonders if he made the right decision.
It's a story about the impermanence of relationships, temptation and betrayal, being punished for taking things for granted, depression, living in the present. Both actors were well cast.
