The Covenant (2023)
Phenomenal.
Breathtaking film. Written by the one and only guy ritche.
Amazing soundtrack. Gyllenhaal is such a great actor in this movie.
Even though it is not based on actual events, it sheds light on the many us military affliated afghans who fought the taliban.
Movie is predictable in some ways. Cliche ending.
In this powerful film, Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) is on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan when he is teamed with up with a local interpreter, Ahmed (Dar Salim). When Kinley is wounded, Ahmed risks his own life to carry an injured John across miles of grueling terrain to safety. Directed and co-written by Guy Ritchie.
Sand Castle (2017)
Showcases A Single Soldier's Experience of the Iraq War, Needed Higher Budget
Spoilers.
The Storyline was to the point. We begin with a soldier in a rock and a hard place, Who ends up in a rock and a hard place almost all the time.
Nicolas Hoult plays as a soldier who isn't cut out for the job. Guys like Him should stay away from the military. But where stuck with his "whimpy" character through out the film. I'm assuming he didn't undergo hardcore training since he mentions that he enlisted before 9/11,
He also mentions that he is just in it for an acceptable payday for a few years so he can get into college.
The plot of this film wasn't so bad. It was the low budget special effects And Henry Cavill's awful attempt at I don't know, A Southern/Midwestern accent? Like what was the director thinking?
The Soundtrack was totally off par with the action. This movie didn't suck 100%, it's just "low budget average".
One last thing: during the night raid battle (Hummvee Ambush) at the end of the film, the camera doesn't cut to the enemy not ONCE! I was speechless. They basically shot at nothing for minutes.
Frontier (2016)
Don't Know what this was
This show was a big waste of time. This show never really knew what It wanted to be. The show features weak and forgetful characters along with a mindless revenge plot. Its really hard to like the roles the cast plays. There is literally no one favorable. Frontier is just another crappy show dumped onto netflix.
