House of the Dragon: Smallfolk (2024)
Don't understand the hate
Last review I made here was probably 5 years ago. Seeing the adverse public reaction to this episode (and 6.3 rating!?) really compelled me to say something to the viewers. This episode is where HoTD went neck to neck with GoT in terms of political tension and balancing it with ample action. I really don't get what the audience wants from the makers. This Marvel like obsession with dragons and anything not having a dragon fight being labelled as fillers is really unhealthy and it's high time audience gained some maturity and appreciated the creators for this brilliant episode. Grow beyond the childish need for a theme park ride like experience.
Alhambeura Goongjeonui Chooeok (2018)
The ending failed this show for me
My first K-drama, first 6 episodes were arguably the strongest but it managed to hold my hold my attention for the rest 10 pretty well. But boy did that ending suck as hell. I mean, what were the writers thinking?! So, disappointed had to take off a star off my rating. Overall, an entertaining but flawed show.
House of Cards: Chapter 70 (2018)
Finally...Back on Track!!!
After 4 excruciatingly boring episodes, seems like House of Cards is back on track. Shame it's got only 3 more hours to tell its story for the last time.
It was a solid episode but dear House of Cards, I won't miss you.
Maniac: Option C (2018)
One of the most uplifting moments in TV history.
Man the ending really got me, the joy in their faces was real, the happiness of the present was something. My heart pumped a little more blood than the usual during those few extraordinary moments of true bliss.
Thank you Cary Joji Fukunaga, Emma Stone and Johan Hill.
Ozark: The Big Sleep (2018)
Ozark losing it's way here...kind of
The surprise reveal at the end of this episode might have earned itself couple of extra stars from but "The Big Sleep" has got me worried about how the remaining two episodes are going to pan out as I can feel the series running out of steam already, just when it should be doing the exact opposite.
Hope the show gets better now on.
Ozark: Reparations (2018)
You just remember... he's not your daddy.
A Surprisingly solid season opener for Ozark's sophomore run. Soundtrack was great, acting was top-notch and cast looked perfect together. Don't understand why this show's getting such lukewarm critical reception. Looks mighty good to me.
The Handmaid's Tale: The Last Ceremony (2018)
Give Elizabeth Moss an Emmy right now!!!!
Absolutely no words to explain the performance she just gave in this stellar episode of this heartbreaking show. It was somber. It was suspenseful. It was Handmaid's tale at its very best
Legion: Chapter 19 (2018)
An ending that's both Rewarding and shocking at the same time
So, Legion ended tonight and boy, was it some ending!!
This is the episode where everything changes. Such was the power of this episode that I was actually rooting for David in the ending. Great job Noah Hawley and team.
Can't wait for season 3.
13 Reasons Why: Bye (2018)
BRAVE....that's the right word for this episode, not disgusting.
I agree that this season was seriously sub-par compared to the utterly amazing first season, but the hate this episode has received for that bathroom rape scene is not justified. It was necessary, it was the TRUTH and it was the only time this season stayed true to the core of this series: that is not being afraid to face the difficult reality we live in...rather embrace it and learn to live with it.
The Americans: START (2018)
One of the greatest series finales ever...
I don't have anything more to say. I rest my case.
Arrested Development: Family Leave (2018)
I love this show too much...even bad episodes seem pretty okay
It was pretty much a nothing episode, basically a recap of season 4 and set up for the grand return of Bluth family, together this time. The family's pretty much scattered this time too, though the Buster-Michael chemistry is hilarious. Ultimately it was an unnecessary episode, but what the hell, It's arrested development and that's reason enough, isn't it?
Killing Eve: God, I'm Tired (2018)
I'm tired of this show
DIssapointing, this word perfectly sums up this episode. All that hype goes down the drain as the characters degrade to silliness and ultimately we're right there where we started from.
Westworld: Phase Space (2018)
Nostalgia and heartbreak...
The plot moved swiftly for all our heroes in another solid hour of this incredible show. I'm especially loving the Shogun world story line, the music, the action, the beauty, that goodbye. It was genuine, it was heartbreaking, it was Westworld.
Jerry Maguire (1996)
you had me at hello...
This film had me smiling right from the first frame and that smile didn't leave me till the last shot. That's what defines a feel-good classic. That's what this is...
The Americans: Jennings, Elizabeth (2018)
The Greatest piece of dramatic TV ever!!!
This episode left me speechless. I couldn't move. And now I'm glad I binged 5 seasons of this show in a week to get here.
Silicon Valley: Grow Fast or Die Slow (2018)
Pretty satisfying...I guess.
So we're back to Silicon valley, frankly I didn't have much expectations going into the season premiere as I've found the series get a little too repetitive at times. But at the end I think it went pretty well, you know. I was funny, entertaining especially the stallions part. This was basically Silicon Valley playing it safe, not trying anything adventurous which I believe is a bad move when you are in your 5th season. Especially the character development of Gavin Belson is one of the worst I've seen in the Peak TV era, I don't think there is limit to that guy's stupidity.
Erlich will be missed (obviously). Besides that there is nothing much to complain about this episode. So, pretty satifying...I guess.
Sherlock: The Final Problem (2017)
Spectacularly over the top tension and thrill in what could be the last we see of Sherlock.
So the FINAL PROBLEM is here and hands down Moffat and Gattis have a commendable job to create the most tension filled and powerfully emotional episode of Sherlock till date. First of all those who are saying that Sherlock has lost its touch just don't listen to them because this episode is just mind blowing. You will find yourself discovering a new emotional side to Sherlock's character, the most powerful moment of the series featuring Molly Hooper, a highly entertaining and applaud-ably brilliant cameo, Cumberbatch's best performance as Sherlock till date and the dark secrets of the Holmes family disclosed.
Sian Brooke has just become the most menacing Sherlock villain of all time and Mycroft getting better screen presence are the high points or THE FINAL PROBLEM.
But despite all these exhilarating moments ,the climax is a bit let down but never the less we saw a humane side to Sherlock and a new angle to Mycroft's character. It may not reach perfection but has provided us with a more than satisfying possible ending to the world's most famous detective.
